BvS Ben Affleck IS Batman - - Part 17

I like the nice coat line, and remember audiences enjoying as well. to me it's included because it reaffirms Bruce's mission to be an important figure to the people of Gotham rather than the personal vendetta Alfred fears it might become. Probably wouldn't have asked for it if it hadn't been included though, haha. It's just an example of Nolan wanting everything to come back to the character and his mission in a meaningful way.

I find the line itself weak, but the editing and pacing of the scene makes it seem worse to me. It should all be concluded after Batman knocks Falcone out cold, but then there is the hobo randomly strolling into the action, and then there is the clumsy line and...it feels like the camera shouldn't still be rolling.

I thought the line was probably a typical Goyer "joke." I don't mind it, it is what it is.

I hope Snyder doesn't try to avoid using the line in order to create some kind of coy humour. I find that irritating rather than playful.

Seconded.

If it works in the moment, go for it! Don't dance around it like they did with the "great power/great responsibility" line in ASM1.

"That's not good...okay that's NOT good." :whatever:
I'm cringing. Goyer's groaners are just something I've gotten use to at this point, they are almost kinda charmingly stupid at this point. "Nice coat" is probably the least offensive thing he's written as far as suspect dialogue and lines are concerned.

All of the dialogue that was used anywhere near the tumbler in BB was terrible. It was as if the tumbler emitted mesmerizing electronic pulses that made people say stupid things.

Steering this towards the Batfleck; I personally hope he is not over-scripted. He should be terse and laconic, but without appearing to use pseudo-tough-guy-talk as a matter of affectation.

It's a bit unfair to attribute that to Goyer given Christopher Nolan's love for blockbuster convention, as well as the fact that it was primarily written by Jonah.

But I also hate those cutaways....

Every time I have the urge to make a serious post reflecting on Batfleck, I'm reminded that it's already been close to a year since he was cast, and yet this movie is still 2 full years away.

And what is the significance of that? Lol

Yeah and then i proceed to tell myself "what's the point? it's a lifetime away."

Just feels so far away that it still seems kind of intangible at the moment (even after the suit reveal), and it's only going to be harder to keep the discussion interesting until more information is revealed. And it's also a lot of time to build up a certain expectation in your head about what the performance and characterization should be.

For me, it's exciting that we know so little about it all at this point. If Batfleck winds up being as good as he has the potential to be, the long wait will have ben well worth it.

I also like that WB/DC/Snyderare are able to take their sweet-ass time with this film. Certainly no one will be able to pass this off as a "studio rush-job".

Oh I'm not complaining about the wait, good on them for delaying it and trying to QC this thing. I could've easily waited much longer to see Batman again on film.

I'm just saying that the conversation points (workout regiment, pizza, scruff, voice, suit, etc.) have already been pretty much exhausted at this point.

My guess is one of the big reasons the studio delayed the film is so that Terrio would have more time to rewrite Goyer's script and as much as I hate waiting I'd rather they get the script right. That and maybe Affleck needed more time to get in shape after shooting Gone Girl.

Every convrsation point becomes exhausted after about a week here at the Hype. Even when we do get news on a steady basis, the same conversations are recycled over and over again.

I kind of like the calm, speculative stage we're in now. There's a lot less for all the loonies to ***** about, less spoilers people will be begging for, etc.

The fact that Gal Gadot it is not in fact a superhumanly muscled amazon is plenty for the loonies to ***** about.
