I didn't even find him intimidating in the Flass interrogation.

Bro was trying too hard to act tuff.

He sounded out of breath. That's it. He sounded like a severe asthmatic.

I find it intimidating. A good example of him using the voice and showing his rage, just as much as TDK or TDKR is the clip where he hangs Flass upside down. To me, that's pure Batman, i LOVE the voice he's using. If you're hanging upside down from that height and this giant bat thing is screaming at you with a deep voice, i dont care who you are, how tough you are, what you say on this forum, we would all crap our pants and tell him what he wants to know.
I loved the Flass scene. Hated all his screaming scenes in the sequels. To me there's a remarkably distinct difference in how Bale approached Batman's anger towards others. In the sequels it's almost as if he couldn't latch onto that initial rhythm and had to impersonate his previous performance as best he could. But terribly.

Mumbling? I have always been able to understand every word Bale has said.
There are certain scenes which he sounds like there's other stuff in his mouth, so he doesn't enunciate clearly. I think it's his natural lisp. I admit it's not as widespread as people would make it out to be. Though I could definitely hear it with that scene, and most notably, his "padded cell" line in TDK.

As for the mouth, ive said it once and ill say it again. Who cares about batmans mouth? LOL i dont understand that criticism. Mouth open, closed, who cares? He's speaking, sometimes yelling, it's even in the comics where you have shots of him yelling at a criminal and the mouth is open. What is he supposed to do? Scream with tight lips? :hehe:
It's animated and stands out. I know it's weird to criticize that, but I've literally never noticed it on anyone else but him. If you've seen the CollegeHumor Batman parodies, the actor mimics the mouth movements really well and highlights how absurd it looks.

Compare that scene with Bane to his scene in BB with Flass. Big difference. It's practically a different performance altogether.

Dat Batman duckface tho.

I still dont know what you guys are talking about when you say Bale has a lisp.

:whatever:

He doesn't need to be intimidating when he's talking to Gordon about irradiated bills. He just sounds silly.
He's not trying to be intimidating. He's masking his voice.

Don't know what to tell you, man. I laughed.

While I think Conroy has the definitive Bat-voice, Keaton's whisper and Bale's growl were equally appropriate. I don't think Affleck has a deep enough base to pull off a Conroy-esque voice, but here's another great Batvoice.

Really shows how the voice doesn't have to be especially deep to sound quite intimidating. I do think Affleck could pull off something similar to this.

Also, the voice is a pretty malleable aspect of one's self. With proper training one can easily have a deeper, more bassy voice. I know because I myself have taken voice lessons and done lots of voice exercises. I sound totally different than I used to.

Another example would be Chris Evans. He had a high, college kid voice but he's transitioned quite nicely to a much deeper voice as Cap. Just look at the difference when he played Johnny Storm.

^ Sisto's take is incredibly underrated. I loved it as a contrast to popular favorites like Conroy and Keaton.

Though I don't think it's a good example for Ben, as Sisto's is also fairly booming as it is. Ben will really have to put effort in making himself sound low. Hopefully he's as good as JEH was in transforming his voice.

Still talking about the Bale-voice?

Thought so.

I'm sure Affleck will do something with that voice. He's not THAT bad. *Hopefully*

Yah the Bat-voice was terrible specially in TDKR.

Anyway, I hope Snyder includes some kind of homage to this scene from Daredevil.

Just replace some of the dialogue and Jennnifer Garner for Gal Gadot and this could totally happen in BvS.

Diana Prince: Try asking for my number!

Regarding Bale's bat voice: It was bad most of the time. The reason and methods behind it do not matter to me. It was so bad at times that it distracted me just a little from some otherwise excellent scenes. I don't expect Affleck to do something similar if for no other reason than he would probably want to differentiate himself from past batmen.

Regarding any Daredevil inspiration for this film: Nope. That scene in particular is like an extra helping of cheese added to a cheese omelet. I am not against some levity or humor in this film, but it needs to be less juvenile than that scene.

Whether you liked Bale's bat voice or not, it bears mentioning that they digitally altered it in TDK and TDKR. So if you liked it in BB but not in the sequels... there's a good chance that's the reason and the blame then would fall more on Nolan than Bale.

For me personally, I liked it MOST of the time. There are moments in each movie where it sounded wonky but overall I liked it. People like to poke fun at the voice in the Joker interrogation scene in particular, but to me it sounded perfect there.

Oh hell nawwwww.

I feel the same, dude. Definitely wasn't "appalling" or hilarious to me, but hey, it is what it is.

Yeah. I mean, I can certainly see why some people didn't like it but I thought it was cool. The only time I didn't care for it was some of the time when he screamed using it.

Bale's bat voice by no means ruined the movies for me. But it is a detail of the batman aura that I wasn't happy with. I'd like a bat voice as good as the super voice we got in MOS. For me, Henry sounded exactly like how I imagine superman would.

It only bothered me twice in the series:
Bb - 'it's what I dooooo that defines me.'
TDK - 'this city... Just showed you...'

Still my favorite live-action portrayal of batman.

But the chances are high that batfleck takes the spot.

Haha yeah... those two stick out in my mind too. The TDK one though, I think sticks out a lot more because it's such a bad line. People act like Jonah Nolan is some sort of dialogue god, but he sure could have taken some more time to write Batman's lines in that movie.

I don't think the "this city" line is bad per se, but the delivery was way over the top.
