Wild accusations are not the same as objective criticism.

What are my wild accusations? Its in the title of the movie, the importance of one character over the other. If the movie is good or not who knows, i will see it for sure but it wont be a pure Superman sequel. You don't see in the Iron Man sequel that Thor comes in and is named first in the title and has much more attention from the press, it wouldn't make sense at all

What Superman characters do we have featured in this movie?

Superman
Lois Lane
Lex Luthor
Martha Kent
Perry White
General Swanwick

What Batman characters do we have?

Batman
Alfred

Oh yes. The focus is very clear here.

Yes, definitely a Batman movie :o, especially when you factor in that the only film it's following up is MOS.

Same. Too many friggin trolls and/or idiots hitting panic buttons for no good reason.
I come here for fun. Those people have a right to say what they like but when it feels trolly, I have no obligation to read their posts.

This whole thread right now reminds me of that one time in the Interstellar thread, also involving Jaspertian1105 ironically. Yay for baseless speculation without seeing things in proper context!!!! :D

:o

So I had to update my ignore list because I have zero tolerance policy in these forums.

I can always tell the ones that I just don't want to listen to so I'm not even going to play the game anymore. The vast majority of critics aren't on my list but some are. When I believe that your intentions are less than noble, you go on the ignore list.

Do as you please, i more than listen to others opinions. I express my criticism to the franchise, if you enjoy the first movie happy for you, i personally dont so i have serious doubt for future installments. Ignore away if it makes you happy, dont care

It's a Batman and Superman movie. And it is a direct follow up to Man of Steel, it's progressing Man of Steel's story.

Anyway I haven't seen the film so I don't "know" exactly how things will sus out but the title tells me that it is a Batman and Superman movie. If I watch it and it only has ten minutes of Superman, I'll gladly admit that my early thoughts on what the film is are incorrect.

I figured more people would be interested in discussing what was mentioned in the interview. Then I remember: it's the Hype. Oh, well.

Every little detail about anything has to be dissected. Roven was clearly being literal about Batman towering over Superman.

I will say, it doesn't help when almost every interview regarding this movie immediately falls on Batman. The movie is called Batman v. Superman, and the interviewer doesn't mention Superman once.

Hell, I can't remember the last time I read an interview about this movie where Superman is discussed at the length that Batman has been.

Yeah, this Batman will kick a lot of ass. I just hope we get to see his detective side a lot more and more batcave sex. No Batman film before has ever given us a great batcave. Oh lawd.

I dont know either, from what im seeing all signs point to Batman getting top bill , the title, Afflecks current star power, the screen writer begin close to affleck, all the general attention of the media towards batman (which makes sense , but still i wish the asked about Superman from time to time).

Yes it has more Superman secondary characters as far as we know, but those could be almost cameos with very little screen time. Lex for sure will get screen time, and i dont think Superman will get 10 minutes of screen time, i just hope we dont see TDKR brought to screen. I like Afflecks and Cavill castings, they are spot on, hopefully they have something good to work with

The interviewer wasn't even aware that Wonder Woman was in this movie and to be fair, this is a new version of Batman that we haven't seen on screen before so I'm surprised he's be talked about at length.

And well, he's Batman. :o

Uh Arms, you know we can't discuss anything without talking about how much Marvel rules and DC sucks. Those are the unofficial Hype rules.

Also Superman is a murderer, there was too much destruction, the movie wasn't bright and cheery enough, Zack Snyder sucks ect...ect..

Reading the past few pages back, I must have a completely different interpretation of the "dread" thread compared to everyone else.

All I know is, the one time a mod had to go into that thread, it wasn't the skeptics that he had to lecture....

That has nothing to do with the direction of the movie though, so much as it does the incompetence of some of the interviewers, this interview in particular was pretty bad, all we got was some rewording of info we already knew about Batman, learned that Ben Affleck is tall, learned that they're making more DC movies (which, like the previous items, we already knew), and the interviewer payed no attention to Supes nor did he appear to have done any research on the film prior to the interview. Roven went out of his way to give us the daughter of Zeus bit, which is the only actual thing we learned from the entire interview.

Batman is a more popular character and being played by an A-lister.

Oh I'm sure this is not indicative of the direction of the film.

However, as far as the public awareness goes, the fact that every interview regarding this movie heavily favors Batman doesn't help to mitigate people's concerns that Superman is being sidelined in a story that is meant to continue on from MoS.

It's like Gone Girl, really. The media is shaping public perception, accurate or not.

That interviewer does the yearly interviews with Oscar nominees and he is bloody awful.

This is true. :funny:

It also has to do with Ben doing the rounds for Gone Girl and the media trying to stay relevant to todays' pop culture, they must ask him about Batman. I'm sure we hear a lot more about Superman early next year when Henry does his rounds for his movie.

If Iron Man had a team up film with Thor, I'd expect Thor's name to be in the title. The placement of the names means nothing. You're reaching.

As far as the title goes.

They opted for "v" rather than "vs." This suggests a battle of philosophies and ideologies as opposed to just a simple physical bout - not unlike a court case. As with court cases, the challenger appears first.

Batman challenges Superman (the protagonist), which makes Batman an "antagonist" of sorts.

And when all is said and done, "Batman v Superman" rolls off the tongue better. A two-syllable word leads into a three-syllable word. Better flow.

Not only is Batman a more popular character but he's also being portrayed by a rather controversial cast. :/ So focus will be on him and his characterization most of the time.
