This looks like Ben Affleck being Ben Affleck ... But with a cowl. Dude looks like he's at a Halloween party.

This does not scream "Batman" to me.

That said, I want Affleck to wow us.
My thoughts exactly, I mean is this the closest we've gotten to comic batman thus far in terms of live action? Damn right, however it does leave a little to be desired and from what I've seen he just has to many of his Afflecky mannerisms coming through and it just makes me wish I'm wrongs don't that he'll make me eat my words.

Anybody else think Affleck sounds a bit like D'Onofrio when he says "Maybe it's the Gotham City in me?"

What the hell are you even talking about? He just turned to Superman and said something sort of funny. How is that like Ben Affleck in a costume?

Jesus Christ.

Ben Affleck obviously should've had surgery so people would have no idea it was him. He wasn't taking this role seriously enough.

I'm not complaining about Affleck's look (he's a handsome dude playing a handsome billionaire playboy; the aesthetic works). I'm talking about the way in which he is carrying himself. I don't see Batman in the trailer; I see someone who is dressed up as Batman.

George Clooney is a great actor, but he was not right for Batman (his looks were perfect though). In B&R we saw ALL of the classic "Clooney-isms" in that cowl ... I'm seeing the same thing with Affleck. That doesn't mean I hate Ben Affleck, I'm just not sold on whether he's right for the part, though. I WANT him to excell, though.

I just saw the Kimmel appereance but what happened to Ben? He looked botoxed and had a bloodshed eye. He looked very tired.

The consensus among fans is that this recent trailer was especially designed to resonate with the general audience. The first trailer, by contrast, was tonally somber and introspective. As such, they wanted to show an ever so slightly comedic side to both characters. Of course, some of Ben's natural behavioral traits will come through in a scene where he's a bit more jovial. That's to be expected, but he certainly won't be acting like that throughout the entire course of the film. In fact, he's been described [by Charles Roven, of all people] as the most brutal on-screen Batman to date.

While I don't feel as strongly about it, I can see where you're coming from. It's a far cry from the silent, rising monolith we had first seen in the teaser.

There's more "man" in the way he's carried himself, which takes away the wonderful mystique that comes with the suit. It's only a very few seconds though, so I'm still hoping there's an intimidation factor still at hand for the majority of his screen time.

Since it will be the trailer showing in front of Star Wars, I guess it needed a "fun" cut to appease to the family friendly crowd. Maybe they'll take Bruce's "Sob" line out. :hehe:

People act like Batman has no sense of humor, which is decidedly NOT TRUE!! Affleck looks great imo.

It seems to be doing its job, based on some of the reaction videos I've seen. Surprisingly, Doomsday, of all characters, is a big hit with most of those guys.

People who grew up with the comics and animated TV shows know this, but the nouveau-nerd fanbase (formerly members of the general audience) who came to prominence with the Bale-Batman films seem to think there's only way the character can be portrayed; and they're adamant about that.

I had no problems with the batvoice, whatsoever. +1
I think just with all the talk of Affleck being "The definitive Batman" people just expected something more than what we have seen so far. I'm not crazy about it either, it sounds like he swallowed satan.

@Loki,

Granted, they're not all like that. I don't mean to paint with broad strokes.

Except even there he has a sense of humor:

-His "nice coat" line to the homeless guy after capturing Carmine Falcone.
-Some of his banter with Alfred throughout the films.
-Some of his banter with Lucius Fox throughout the films.
-His "I'm not wearing Hockey pads" line from TDK.
-His going "so that's what that feels like" when Catwoman pulls the "disappearing" act on him in TDKR.
-Etc.

Indeed. Good point. They conveniently forget that, though.

From what I've seen fans have been quick to move on from Nolan's Batman, so I'm not sure how the accusation can be made that people think he can be only portrayed one way.
