BvS Ben Affleck IS Batman - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 39

It'd be cool if he used the halberd's stick side to hit enemies, and the spear side to impale guns, with the axe side used ONLY for emergencies, such as evil robots.

But more than likely he just chopped dudes up.

Maybe if they set out to kill people they would simply pack a pair of M16's. Who knows?

No one. Because it is fiction derived from fiction derived from fiction

I can't bring myself to care about a halberd we never see used in the movie.

For all we know he used it to fight bladed attackers or to chop down doors and rescue people or used it in a nonlethal manner.

I just can't bring myself to care.

OK. How about this. If it's explained in a future Batman movie, that Robin used it to kill criminals that got in his way, would you care then?

I would simply disregard the "tech manual" thing.
If it never comes up again (which seems pretty likely), I'm happy to do so. But we're talking about Zack Snyder; this sort of thing is just a part of the films he makes, beyond this specific example. That sort of stuff will always be there. It's... just not my bag.

So when will I see the threads dedicated to the deaths caused directly or indirectly by super heroes in other films for the last nine years? Just want the over the top opinions to be evenly spread out since everyone is being so fair minded and equally applying standards and all...
Why would I apply to the same standards to different characters? Most importantly, they are different characters, but also important is that my experience with them is different, the aspects of their characters that I find compelling or defining are different, and finally, their importance to me is different.

Holding them to an identical standard would be like, say, holding my spouse and my boss to the same standards.

Folks are not talking about other superheroes, they're talking about Batman and Robin. The "no guns/no killing" rule has been a big aspect of these characters for the past 30 years.

DC's no-killing policy actually originated in the early '40's, though it's enforcement is of course somewhat fluid.

This reminds me of something Goyer (I think? Long time ago) said around the release of Batman Begins. He was talking about how they had done a lot of exploration on a new batymbol, but that everything they had just looked like "Klingon glyphs," until somebody finally came up with the (fantastic) Nolan-era logo. I'm a designer myself and it's easy to see why it's such a challenge; I think this is a great illustration of that challenge. Most of these alternate symbols are definitely not what I would pick. In some of them you lose the bat silhouette entirely. Others do, indeed, look like Klingon. One looks like it's for the Wu Tang Clan. There are a couple that are pretty rad, though.

The last three rows suck. All of them. There's plenty of goodies to choose from, in the first two rows.

Hilariously, the tech manual reveals that Robin's weapon (partially seen with his costume in the case) is actually a goddamn halberd...

Sigh.

I dislike or outright hate all but the last one in the first row.

It works because of his size, the short ears on the cowl.

On its own, im not a fan of it. But with the whole package, it fits like a glove.

Hopefully they move on to a symbol that isn't so bland (imo) in the reboot.

Really like the last one in the first row.

And I don't know why, but the first one in row three catches my eye too.

The one with the roided-up neck and arms? It looks like the bodybuilder jock of batsymbols. :o

I just wish the middle points on the bottom were more pronounced. It doesn't have a good balance to it, though I do like how it's so large and spread that it acts as a kind of breastplate.

okay, i have to ask : what is the point of the poll if the poll is closed ? this is the 39th verison of this thread. it should be gone by now, lmao.

Maybe he used the halberd nonlethaly.
Somehow.
A batarang is a supposed to be a tool to kill but its never used like that
If Robin had a bladed weapon its not like he couldn't use it nonlethally

I mean Batman could basically be like one of the guys from the raid if he wanted to that doesn't mean he can't hold back.

We have no idea how Robin's weapon was ever used. Just like one can assume that Robin hacked everyone to death with this weapon like Jason, one can take the flip side to that and say Robin was skilled enough to not use the weapon lethally but to use it in aiding himself to disable a criminals weapons and to cut through certain objects depending on the situation. Also, the one that is actually in the movie does not look as lethal as the ones in the sketchbook as it just has the one smaller curved blade.
