C. Nolan's Interstellar - Part 1

For Nolan, my favorite film still goes to Memento. It's easily the most creative film he's done.

I'm just happy Nolan decided to helm Interstellar. If it weren't for Spielberg dropping out, Chris likely would have tackled a small-scale psychological thriller again.

Considering that 2001 and Blade Runner were his biggest inspirations for filmmaking, Nolan crafting Sci-Fi projects is probably a passion.

I doubt that. I think he realizes that the confidence hollywood places on him to make big budget films might one day not be a reality anymore (you only need one bomb), so he strikes while the iron is still hot. And hopefully earning enough money to ake his production company independent so he can work with very little limitations in the future.

Really, it's kind of nuts how much money Nolan's past three films have made, particularly in comparison to the earlier part of his career.

Well, two of them were Batman-movies. Kinda unfair to compare the performance of big budget movies in a popular franchise with smaller movies like Memento, Insomnia and The Prestige. Any director could make a lot of money out of Batman if he/she makes good movies

nolan is one of the few directors who could demand a 200 million+ budget and wb wouldn't say a thing

Its unfair to compare the latter half of any established director's careers to their early films.

But still, it is not as if Batman Begins made a billion dollars and there was certainly no guarantee that Rises would (Adjusting Batman 89's gross to 2012 gets you just over 750 million.) Even Inception made over 800 million dollars. Nolan is what, 42 years old? He went from basically an unknown to absolute juggernaut in essentially a decade.

It has kind of been crazy to watch.

CHANNING TATUM I CAST IN THIS???????

I officially hate him more than words now.

BURBANK, CA, – Paramount Pictures announced today that Channing Tatum has been cast as a young graduate student in Christopher Nolan’s “Insterstellar.” He will be starring alongside Matthew McConaughey, who will play the lead role of Dr. Cooper, an acclaimed Astrophysicist.
Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Channing Tatum. I believe he is a raising star in cinema, and I think he’s a perfect addition to our cast.”

Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Lynda Obst.

“Insterstellar” is slated for release on November 7, 2014. The film will be distributed domestically by Paramount Pictures, a subsidiary of Viacom, and internationally by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

He is starring in Jupiter Ascending from the Wachowski's, due out in July 2014 from WB.

So yes.

Also you have a quote from an article but no source listed.

Magic Mike 2? So this is what Nolan was changing when they said he was rewriting it.

For the record, I would not object to a cast of good-looking actors. :oldrazz:

But yeah, LINKS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! :hehe:

I believe nothing. I don't care if a supermodel offers me sex, no one is fooling me today. I got a five year streak going on here.

McConaughey said the much-talked-about deal is done in a phone interview this morning from New Orleans, where he is currently filming the upcoming HBO crime series “True Detective” with Woody Harrelson.

Nolan’s projects are notoriously secretive, and McConaughey revealed no details other than to say “I’m confirming” that he had accepted the role.
