They were shooting for two weeks actually. And the sizzle reel they showed is what we got in the first trailer for GOTG. I agree, it's ********. Action sequences, set building and the VFX team will already be working on the VFX well into pre-production. They have been shooting since like what? April, May? Yeah I don't believe Kinberg's words here. Some of the stuff he said was a bit encouraging but I'm still VERY cautous. Well at least we have Age of Ultron footage to look out for.

Agreed. Unless its true they held off until the last minute hoping for an offer that never came they would have gone through the usual pre-vis motions these films require, so after more than 2 months (they started shooting early May I think) I'd say they could have put something impressive enough together by now.

:funny:

He's certainly saying the right things in that interview. It could be complete BS, but the thing that's been so frustrating up to this point that they've seemed so ignorant and/or dismissive of what we want that they couldn't even BS effectively.

This interview is the first thing we've seen - really since the project was announced - that shows a recognition of what fans want, and if they at least recognize what fans want, that's a good thing.

Disappointing that they won't show anything at Comic-Con.

My feelings exactly. This is the first time I've heard Kinberg or anyone for that matter say anything encouraging about this production. If they can actually deliver the film he's describing - well then we could be in for a treat. But the fact that they have absolutely nothing to show for Comic-Con is indicative to me of an uncertainty about what they are doing or fear of fan backlash. They've had years to work on this film. It could be they are just trying to dodge fan reaction wherever possible. I'm beginning to think that outside of a trailer we won't see anything about this film until it's released.

this could end up being a great movie. it just bums me out that we don't get to see any F4 characters in the MCU..

Yes - even if this movie surprises us and actually turns out to be good - I will always be bummed that the FF cannot be part of the MCU.

It might turn out to be a good movie. But it will never be a Fantastic Four movie

Yeah, a one-two punch of these comments followed by some kick-ass footage could dramatically turn perception of this whole thing. It's easy to say the right things (which is why it was so baffling that they weren't able to manage saying some good things previously), but backing it up is key.

I'm not about to jump on board with those who seem to like everything we hear, but it's better to hear good things than bad things.

I like what he said in this particular interview, and if they can back it up with some footage at some point, who knows.

But I'd be foolish, considering everything that we know up to this point, to not maintain a healthy dose of skepticism.

And i would rather take the former. And whether you like or not, it will still be a Fantastic Four film not just a carbon copy of the F4 comics.

Anyway the writer already said that they are taking elements from the comics so thats something.

Had they said that from the beginning, they wouldn't be in this situation. Yes, it's a Step in the good direction, it's What we want to hear.

But I don't Know What to think. Is it true ? Or Is it some kind of trick to explained in a good way why they won't be in Comic Con.

They are at the middle of the shooting, and they can't do even a teaser ? That's suspect.

Guardian of the galaxy did it, Dark knight rises did it, and they were at the beginning.

So encouraging ? yes, but it's just Words, and words péan nothing

I hope Kinberg is just yanking our leg with not showing anything at comic con

When I first read it, I thought he was focusing on the idea of footage and it still might be possible the cast would show up, but when I re-read it, it seemed pretty unequivocal.

I think he would have worded it differently if he knew they really were going to have anything.

"And I know that there’s a lot of people that think that’s the big surprise from Fox this year at the Con and knowing that I’m talking to a reporter and I’m going on record that I’m saying unfortunately that will not be a surprise for the fans of Comic-Con this year."

I think that's a pretty definite 'no'. If he wanted to leave some wiggle room he could have said something much softer like: "Don't plan on seeing anything from FF."

Pretty much

I just think you are over underestimating this film like as if you already saw it. I know the last two F4 films made by Fox weren't good and Simon Kinberg still has a bad track record. But chill out. People keep saying that the true F4 fans wont care to watch this and yet they seem to complain every single thing about this film including bad mouthing the drector. If you dont reallycare about this film, you wouldnt be posting here in this section regularly.

Count me a skeptic until the film is actually released and receives unanimous praise from critics, GA and fans.

Another thought I had after reading this interview is yes Fox is definitely listening to all the negative chatter about this film (how could they not considering it shows up on virtually every article about it?). They seemed to waver in the early stages but they must now have some level of confidence in what they are doing to be giving what appears to be a big middle finger to all the people who never wanted to see this movie get made to begin with. Emma Watts called it their "big bet" of 2015 - so read into that what you will. A big bet implies to me a big gamble and personally I'm not happy that the currency they are playing fast and loose with is my favorite super team. Hope this "big bet" is worth it.

Well, you have some that feed off of negative and it is the fighting that keeps them here.

You have some that feed off of the positive in order to piss off the negative and it is the fighting that keeps them here.

Then you have those fans of 616, that have given very solid reasons why they are not happy with what they have heard.

You have some that are fans of UFF, that certainly should have some excitement about this film.

You have some that are fans of the actors that certainly are excited about seeing their fav on the big screen once again.

To put them in only two boxes, positive and negative....IMO, disrespects their ideas, opinions and rebuttals.

The only groups I put in the same box are the first two, and the box has the label, WHINERS AND TROLLS. :yay:

To me all I can think of when I think of this movie is that because of it we will have an MCU without Dr. Doom. An MCU without Galactus. An MCU where the Guardians of the Galaxy movie can't even use the Badoon (even though they exterminated Gamora's entire species). I think about the fact that we will never see Namor or the Inhumans face off against the Fantastic Four or see the Hulk go head to head with the Thing (all very iconic FF story lines). Not only we will never see the Silver Surfer and Thanos together, we may never even see a Silver Surfer film period. For all of this awesomeness (and more) to be possible, the only thing that needed to happen was that Fox miss their production start date by a few months. Now we're hearing of daily rewrites and we're hearing that they are not ready for Comic-Con.

It's going to take a WHOLE lot more than a song and dance by Simon Kinberg to ever win me over on this.

I personally just want this film to be a success since this is gonna be the 1st F4 film in a long time.

There are legit reasons to be concern of but I just think its unhealthy to be negative all the time most especially to a film that is not even out yet.

And that is your opinion. But, if you are a fan, and have been a fan for 5+ decades, and you have YET to see a solid, good adaptation of what you have read for all of those years, and then you read and hear what we have thus far? I think they have every right to be upset and negative. But honestly, THOSE FANS on this site have been respectful, hopeful, endured being called names that they did not deserve, and did it with respect, and have had some great discussions using their thoughts to back great debate. To generalize and put them into a box of "Those Negative People" is extremely disrespectful.

I think this is the one real take-away we get from this. No matter what's going on behind the scenes, this illustrates at least some recognition of the fans.

If the attitude is, as it seemed to be: "We don't give a S*** what the fans think." then there's no hope for us to get anything close to what we want.

The apparent recognition of the fans and, more importantly, recognition of what the fans want is a positive step if nothing else.

Reply to Kelly, And we just had an encouraging interview from Kinberg despite not attending the comic con. And I didnt mean to be disrespectful, just giving my opinion.
