I agree definately. I guess we'll have to see next year. This might be the first CBM I won't be paying to see in cinemas. With all these things happening, my expectations (not that I really had any to begin with) keep getting lower. Who knows, it could be great but I'm gonna wait until the reviews start coming in before even considering buying a ticket.![]()
I didn't see X-Men Origins Wolverine or even The Wolverine in cinemas. Didn't see Thor: TDW or XM:FC there either. Tickets cost enough, and I've wasted money watching movies I didn't even like and came away hating, so there's no way I'm going to pay any money for FFINO. Still haven't seen XMO:W yet. Nor Green Lantern.
I agree with you though, tickets cost enough as it is but I sometimes see films 4 times because I like them that much. For this FF reboot? We'll see but I doubt it's going to get my money. They're counting their chickens before they've hatched if that is the case. It's not like early tests have shown that it's likely to be a sure-fire hit or is looking very positive so far. If anything, they've had a ton of negative reactions and publicity. Their so-called green lighting of the sequel sounds like a load of hot air to give the appearance of confidence in their product.
Trank certainly wouldn't be working on any sequel since Disney have recruited him, and what other director would want to work on this POS, especially to have to make it in a similar style to this one?
Well, keep in mind that the only point is to stake out a date for the release of a sequel. It's not like they lose anything by setting the date. Most comicbook movies these days involve multi-film contracts and I'm sure this one is no different (it would have been done well before any buzz positive or negative anyway). I'm sure a second FF film and Star Wars Episode VIII can be both accommodated.
That being said, while my source wasn't directly IMDB, I think my information stems from IMDB so I'll proactively call BS on my own post. While I suspect they do have everyone locked down contract-wise (with the possible exception of Trank), I don't have any reliable information.
Oh I would think they would have this cast signed up for a mutli picture deal (probably 3), but Fox don't have to make them. Eric Bana was signed up for 3 Hulk films iirc (Norton may have been too). I'm sure Ryan Reynolds was signed up for a few GL films as well.
But if a film underperforms and the studio doesn't see the franchise as worth pursuing (least not as it is) those contracts are dust. They are more an option the studio can hold the actors to than a commitment the studio has to fulfill.

first class was probably one of the first movies I saw (paid for) twice in theatres... was worth it

You're right that Tickets cost a bomb now plus the need to buy foods and drink for the longer movies.
I sneak my own in. Usually carry a jacket over my arm that has inside pockets, so plenty of room to discretely stash a couple of cans of something fizzy, snacks etc. Never been pulled up yet, lol.
Don't about the US but here in the UK the cost of a coke and some popcorn is near enough as much as the ticket. Bugger that.

Coffee doesn't make sense to me either, but I would totally go in for a pot of tea and scones. At least there's a comfort food aspect to it.Hearing someone having coffee at a movie theater is a first for me. What's next tea and crumpetts at the matinee?
I had a friend that was a weekend manager of a theater near me, I got into the movies free from time to time, I didn't over use her kindness. If I got in free, I bought my candy and drinks at the movies.
t:I pretty much never eat anything at the theater.
