This sounds like you are a big F4 fan(or just a fan Fox CBMs), which is curious, but how can you that have that above AoU? Is it a Quicksilver thing? Are you some kind of Fox loyalist?(*I understand you said if)
Finally, your handle is great. For message boarding/arguing on the internet, it gives a conversational advantage. However, the given reference suggests that you are a fan of the Whedon version(or the extension of) Scott Summers. If you are a reader, how can you ignore Fox's Greatest Sin in regards to the X-films? The lack of narrative focus on the most interesting mutant of the last 15 years(or more) is astounding. With no plans of making the lead character the actual lead as Tatum,McAvoy,JLaw,(8/31/14-never forget) and Fassbender take over the franchise. The fact that Gambit is getting better development and Scott is likely to be a portrayed as a teenager for multiple films going forward is betraying the IP that these films are drawing from.
I understand several avenues Fox is trying to take with these X-films, even though I disagree with them. However, it seems as if the studio is almost taking a contrarian approach to their Marvel IPs. The approach seems to be "don't make it look/feel like it's Marvel", which is admirable in a way. It's not whether the Torch is black, it's the overall casting choices and what the alleged take is. It's the pretentiousness Singer is trying to beat the audience over the head with gay/civil rights issues. It's the fear of risk in making a Deadpool movie. It's the overcrowding of the X films with popular characters (i.e. Bishop, Colossus) who have no arc or development along with others who become background mutant fodder. It's the one line write off of most of the First Class story. It's the constant exposition.
If I had to guess MBJ is going to be a lot like his character in Chronicle, the "kid hero" who is immature but arguably the most heroic. Based on what I've heard, I disagree with his take on Sue Storm (a girl who feels invisible, so much so that he kicks her off set) especially the given age/time period of this F4, when it would be Reed courting Sue, not ignoring her. If she feels invisible because of her adopted father, that's a tired trope as well and certainly not one that would make a whole lot of sense. The casting decision of her father is clearly a smug reaction to the fan reaction of Johnny's casting and the list goes on and on and on.
It is one thing to give a "fresh new take" (not that this IP needs it) on a identifiable hero or group of heroes. It's whole other thing to turn left when you should turn right. So again, I ask you, how is this movie one of your most anticipated tentpole/franchise films of 2015, especially over AoU, by all means a better developed film?
