I'd be surprised if it's set in outer space. Kinberg has been very careful to avoid using the word 'space' and a previous synopsis that mentioned space has since been replaced by this current official synopsis:

The Fantastic Four have captivated comic book readers since their 1961 debut in Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four #1, created by Marvel legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. This contemporary update focuses on the characters as young men and women, idealistic adventurers who make a headstrong leap into the unknown, only to find the journey has altered their physical forms in shocking ways, leaving the collective course of their lives irrevocably upended.

Everything we've seen so far has been consistent with UFF, and the early UFF books featured Moleman's Subterranea. I suspect much of this film will be set in Subterranea and they'll use digital sets for that.

I'm inclined to agree. We know Moleman is in this as well, UFF Sue was teleported to subterranea after the portal accident, so they may be putting Doom's story in with all that (maybe he kills Moleman and takes over his underground minions or something like that).

I think the budget has been increased after DOFP's success. Fox has had incredible year with 2014 and they probably want to continue the critical acclaim and success to 2015. About the green screens, remember that also movies like Gravity relied on them and the end result was beautiful. Besides all the set pictures we have are from the same room so there are many sets we haven't seen yet.

The new date is a lot better. The lack of early promotion makes more sense now too. Let's see what this all turns out to be, Fox you have the chance to make it awesome so use it.

I've always stated the green screen are probably used for sets they can't build because it's impractical for their budget. I highly doubt it's space only because it's been done already but the negative zone?! Yeah that's the safer bet to me

Well, I would say Fantastic Four, is a sliiiiightly more important property than Ant Man. Hardly a comparison. And Ant-Man has gotten plenty of ridicule by the way. The only difference is the studio making it has sated the appetites of the productions followers with actual information/images.

But, Antman is following one of the most anticipated movies of the year, which will likely lead into it.

Fantastic Four had two poorly received films and no overarching universe to bring in fans. I'd say Antman has quite a head start.

I've always thought UFF was more similar to Moleman than he was to real Doom. He was a skulking, pathetic figure who became 'leader' of a bunch of misfits as opposed to the regal self-assured Doom that we've come to love.

Who knows, maybe in this version Doom will *cringe* work for Moleman.

My comment was a retort to someone's comments towards claims of bias and fans being more critical of F4 when they most certainly are only because F4 is infinitely more important in comic lore than Ant MAn.

Well, going by those god awful set shots of Doom he does look more suited to lurking about in a murky underworld of misfits than gracing a castle and all it's regalia.

I was thinking that exact thing when I first saw the pics...and when everyone said it was Doom, I almost fainted...

With it being a leaked pic, who is to say that that isn't Mole Man....

I thought Mole Man was just a scientist in this one, and would supposedly become the Mole Man in the sequel if it ever happens

Interesting. They do both wear green. But I think the hood and metal mask point strongly toward Doom.

MAYBE.... Moleman gets transformed as well, and he becomes robed bag person man.

Actually... from what I recall of the leaked picture, he kind of looked like DC's Ragman.

Meanwhile Doom would still become robed metal goatleg man.

Ben becomes sedentary rockman, Reed becomes liquid body man, Sue becomes see through girl and Johnny becomes spontaneous combustion boy.

Reed could be Bodily Fluids Man.

That's "see through WOMAN",buster!:o

Well, I mean, yeah. That was supposed to be Doctor Doom's origin story. It seemed pretty obvious to me when I read it that it was supposed to be the early stages of Doom's rise to power, and we were going to see that process evolve over time. And then Mark Millar took over the book and fast-forwarded through that whole process.

Part of the reason Ultimate Doctor Doom never bothered me is because I went into it expecting that we'd see him gradually develop, and not see him appear fully formed in his first issue.

Also, I thought the goat legs looked kind of neat. I never got why they bugged people so much.

Massive amounts of special effects more than past the X-men films?:funny: I don't believe that.:whatever:

Well, the leaked shots were exclusively greenscreen sets and there has been no leaked footage indicating anything's been filmed on location. That leads me to believe they're going Star Wars prequel style CGI sets.

Is that a good or a bad thing?

Thats bad.

FANTASTIC FOUR's release move is due to three things..capitalizing on GOTG's August success, more post-production time and SDCC15

SMH... like ASM2, Fox is going to have to learn the hard way that following Marvels release date patterns doesn't automatically equate to success.

Guess FOX completely forgot that they did release a Marvel film around the same time as GOTG last year which underperformed in the US. And the kicker is that unlike this reboot most people actually like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Yup. And that was after the well received First Class too.

Tbh, I think they are looking more at the Turtles box office as their hopeful gross than the GOTG numbers. Turtles was another reboot and it's got over $300mil ww so far. I think Fox would probably be ecstatic to get that much back on this one atm.

If it does do GOTG numbers I'll freely admit that I am shocked, stunned, and not a little amazed.

I would never make box office predictions knowing as little as we know. And frankly, if you had asked me to predict GOTG, I never would have guessed it would have done as well as it did (personally, I enjoyed Winter Soldier more).

The key point to me is that by putting it on a weekend that it at least has a chance to be #1, Fox seems to be showing more faith in it than they apparently did previously.

That could be good or bad news depending on what you're hoping for.
