Maybe he's confusing that hand held, "shaky cam" filming technique for found footage.

Probably so.

For the confused:

Found footage is a genre of film making, especially horror, in which all or a substantial part of a fictional film is presented as if it were discovered film or video recordings, often left behind by missing or dead protagonists. The events on screen are seen through the camera of one or more of the characters involved, who often speaks off screen. Filming may be done by the actors themselves as they recite their lines, and shaky camera work and naturalistic acting are often employed.

Shakey cam or filming with handhelds is not in itself found footage.

Those shaky camera shots you see in almost every movie involving flight are the found footage elements i'm speaking of. Those shots that look like the NASA shuttle lift offs, that I use to see as a kid.

Shaky cam =/= found footage.

I dont know what to think of this movie. Reshoots are never good if their is to many and it souds like this may be the case. The budget is around 90 mil and has ballooned due to reshoots to 200 mil? Hmmm i cant believe someone screwed up that big where reshoots are so extensive that a 100 mil has been added to the budget? That's an entire new movie. I don't believe that. If Fox has indeed let this production spiral outta control to such a magnitude then they dont deserve the rites.

That isn't found footage. You're using the term incorrectly.

at 1:32 mark of GOTG for sure you will see found footage elements.

Does the POV shift to a camera that is a part of the scene, ala Chronicle and Paranormal Activity? No? Then it's not found footage. Shaky cam is independent of found footage.

"Found Footage" means that the film you are watching was filmed by one of the characters in the film and was later "found" by someone who is now watching it. That does not take place in GOTG.

The earliest reports put the budget at $90 million, but the most recent reports says it has ballooned to $200 million (and growing) due to extensive reshoots.

Let me get this straight. Someone is stating that the movie has ballooned to over $100 million more than or twice its original budget?

From the guy who made a somewhat effects-heavy film for $12 million?

Riiight.

I don't believe that the budget has ballooned to 200 million, that story just sounds incredibly fake to me.

Fox is going to spend $200 million on their cheap rights grab? I don't believe it for a second.

At that point, their rights grab is no longer cheap. My guess is the studio wanted to make a better film through reshoots since they felt that Josh Trank's original cut lacked fun/wonder. At least that's my opinion.

Completely agree. They would be better off releasing a horrible, complete, cheap film, then spend that ridiculous amount to "fix it". Again, this is about the rights. They can make a bad movie and keep them.

Days of Future Past? For maybe at most a total of 10 second or so in the Paris scene.

Got it right. Was it 10 seconds? It felt longer. I didn't like how it was used in the action scene. I think in this movie we might see something similar wherein baxter doctors will record the training sessions or something of the five. Just hope they don't overuse it.

As far as the movie ballooning to 200 million from 90 million, I don't believe that for a second. Pretty sure the budget won't exceed 150 million. And if you add tax rebates, it would end up being a 120 -130 million.

It wouldn't be the first time this happened.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' was only budgeted for $90 million (they wanted to go cheap after all the bad will they accrued with SM3), and they ended spending close to $250 million.

It can happen.

Because reshoots of THAT caliber always work out for the best.

If shaky cam were the same as found footage, then the Bourne movies would all be considered found footage films. :hehe:

Anyway, I'm now going to adopt a different understanding of what I understand by big budget movie: A $90 million dollar film = a big budget. :o

There's no question that it can happen - if the studio cares about the franchise and believes the project is worth the additional investment. There's been no indication that FOX cares one whit about the Fantastic Four.

FFINO isn't so much a film as it is an exercise in corporate rights extension.
