I think 13 thus far till they get picked up for a full season which will be 22-24 episodes.

This show is great.

I just read a review that said Amell is giving off a cold performance...Then went on to compare it to the more charismatic one given in Smallville...then went on to say that Arrow is merely following the treads already trekked in smallville....sigh.

Most reviews I've read have faced this sort of confusion. Give it at least a few ep's before judging it, Spartacus took about 4 before it really sang. I do agree with more reviews about the Writers(not the writing), I hate those guys.

Amell comes off as stiff in his line delivery. He'll need more work but he was fine.

The show's off to a solid start, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it unfolds. The action is already good.

I agree, very stiff, plus the dialogue in general for the pilot was kind of.. eh. The action is the pilot's saving grace obviously, I expect that will be great all the time.

So, if they can fix the dialogue and delivery (and flat out do away with the voice over) this show should be solid.

you really have to check out the pilot and at least the second ep, DA...

it really surprised ME... don't judge it by a trailer until you really get the feel of it with an entire ep or two...

I was never into GA, be it in the comics or on Smallville, but I'm DEFINITELY hooked...

Perhaps I will after there's been a few episodes and people have a firmer grasp on what the show is and the WOM is out.

The sizzle reel is what made you think batman Begins? Why? I understand when we only had clips from the first episode. But I don't see it other than in the vaguest sense in the sizzle reel.

Batman Begins invented gritty urban crimefighters.

Right. Several trailers about the hero coming back from exile to finish his martyred, wealthy father's work and save his city complete with a love interest who is at least a lawyer (possibly an ADA, but I couldn't tell from the trailers), a corrupt police force gunning for him and other visual things (the thieves robbing the bank, the hero telling a mobster "You failed this city," etc.) sprinkled throughout.

Maybe it is a good show and I don't want to troll, I just think it feels pretty obvious that they're pulling from the film trilogy that grossed $2.5 billion in the last few years or so. Similar to how Teen Wolf on MTV bared a striking similarity to another popular film series. It doesn't mean it's necessarily bad. The Walking Dead is a show I watch and it pulls from many genre influences of the past.

Maybe it's because I never read GA comics, but I just watched the sizzle reel and....is this anything else but a lower-budgeted Batman Begins TV show with CW-styled writing and acting?
Honestly? That's exactly what it is, imo. But I have no problem watching a faux-Batman Begins as a weekly series, lol.

so was smallville, and supernatural currently. they generally run/ ran for 22 to 24 episodes per season. they would just go on hiatus a lot because of it.

I like the voiceover, but I don't like Amell's delivery. The dialogue is part of the problem also.

I think some of the still delivery also stems from the fact that I think that's how they wanted to portray him as just coming back. He's changed

I guess I thought the performance was based on him coming off of being stranded on an Island for 5 years. Given that he was alone/tortured I would think anyone would be giving a cold vibe to those around him. So maybe it was intentional.. or just poor acting.

If its the latter I'll wait to see more episodes before passing final judgement based on 40 minutes of footage that we've seen thus far.

The more I think of older shows like buffy, I'm not sure any of them would have been able to find an audience with the way the internet is nowadays. Let alone be as widely praised.

I thought it was pretty clearly intentional.

Some times I think back to old shows too, and wonder how they'd perceive now. I feel like people weren't as overly critical 10+ years ago when it came to genre television.

They are sure borrowing from the Batman universe a lot. First Helena Bertinelli and now firefly.

Deathstroke! :awesome:

Deathstroke looks like the run of the mill big and slow villian, hopefully that's incorrect.

That mask is definitely yellow. I know it was orange on the island but I wouldn't be surprised if the writers have a reason to change the color. Again, hopefully that's incorrect.

Obviously only judging this by 5 seconds of him on the sizzle reel.

I know this show has a lot of 'batman' in it, but i think that is the smartest step to take when making this type of show with the general audience. it is kind of perfect timing for Nolans Batman fans...

im quite refreshed and excited to see more. just dont go all out just yet.. keep the grounded areas in tact for now... I keep referencing the Cape, but take notes from it.

The Cape?

Maybe take notes of what not to do...

Oh, okay. I wasn't sure if you were one of the five people who actually like that show. :funny:
