She looks old, I said "looks old" in the same post you just quoted. The crows feet, bags under the eyes and cracking pancake makup ... oh sometimes HD is a curse makes her look old.

Sorry my friend, you started it out with "that Black Canary chick is old and ugly" and followed it by she looks 10 years older than every one else. Difference.

Saying she old and ugly was kind of messed up. It's funny how you never hear people complain much about man's age or looks.

Kinda messed up? If you are that sensitive type who gets offended for people you don't know, but I'm sure she appreciates your White Knight powers . I never complain about a dude's looks because I'm not into guys, but I know Black Canary is supposed to not look hagged up at 25. Is she constantly smoking and drinking?

Just came off a bit harsh but I will admit that she doesn't exactly have the look that I would want.

Doesn't matter what she looks like....unless she has her powers it's not really her anyway

Geez, ChickenScratch! Tact much?

If you ever told that to a woman in real life, I guarantee she'd smack you right across the face. Multiple times.

There's honesty, and there's just plain disrespect.

Yes it matters. She looks old on a show that seems to skew young. Maybe she needs to lay off the partying, but she doesn't look hot at all.

Kinda reminds me of Bruce and Harvey both pining after Rachel in TDK. In every scene I was like "are we all looking at the same chick, you guys can do better."

Wiseguy, quit trying to White Knight this chick too. Oh I so hate the fake righteousness.

Glad to know that all some people still care about is looks. I guess no one has ever fell in love with someone because they are smart, funny, caring, supportive.....they just must look like a Victoria's Secret model or get the hell away from you.

That's not even a little true. The Canary Cry is far from what defines her. Hell, there was even a stretch in the comics where she didn't have it at all either.

you dont believe in love at first sight? personality is meaningless :o

:hehe:

anyways... I'm not familiar with Green Arrow.. so who was the person that
shot Oliver at the end... who trains him etc?

All things that don't matter on TV. Look good, fit the role, that's all there is to it. I say she looks old. I've not had the pleasure of spending time in her company so I can only comment on how she looks.

I took it as he just passed out and was seeing things. Someone mentioned it was symbolizing Oliver's "death". I'd go with that. I don't think it was a actual person.

Hey, I'll admit. I love beautiful women as much as the next guy. It's part of what makes them "women".

Notice I said "part".

I'll admit, some don't age as gracefully or look as beautiful on the outside as some others. I've known some people like that. However, what they lacked in the "outer beauty" department, they more than made up for in the "inner beauty" department.

That's why I know when to shut my mouth and be respectful towards those particular people...

...Which you are not doing.

oh cool, thanks... i thought someone else might be on the island since Oliver was so emphatic of saying 'alone'... thought maybe he was hiding something.

I like that idea though.

The scene with his sister seeing his scars made we think it would be neat if during flashbacks we would see how and when he got some of those scars.

Someone is on that island with him. You dont learn all that fancy footwork by yourself.

It's funny because most people have been saying the show's portrayal of lawyers is unrealistic because everyone is a little too good looking. Whereas you are in the complete opposite direction.

Ahem...

Oliver Queen, aged 27 (his birth year is stated to be 1985) played by Stephen Amell, aged 31.

Thea Queen, aged 17 played by Willa Holland, aged 21.

John Diggle, maximum age 36 played by David Ramsey, aged 40.

And these are the ones whose ages are either confirmed or sussable from the dialogue. As you can see, neither the characters nor the actors who play them 'skew young', as you so describe. Even the youngest character on the show is aged 17, pretty old as far as 'kid sister' side characters go. Likewise, all characters are played by actors a little older than them. The only one who's a little young is the police detective who's aged 43; which is slightly young to play the father of a woman in her mid-twenties.

Kinda reminds me of Bruce and Harvey both pining after Rachel in TDK. In every scene I was like "are we all looking at the same chick, you guys can do better."

Congratulations. You've identified a love triangle; one of the oldest and commonest relationship archetypes in both, fiction and real life.

Now, onto something more positive:

I will conceded that the acting isn't top notch. However, it's certainly adequate - especially relative to everything else out there, particularly the CW - and suffices for the story's current complexity. Moreover, the action is certainly well above average. Choreography is pretty complex and the camera stays on it, rather than being short cuts spliced together.

Also, anyone else really digging Diggle (the bodyguard)? I feel the guy really came across as badass this episode; going toe to toe against the supervillain of the episode. Between his badassery, his military background and propensity for guns, as well as his getting closer to Ollie's secret, does anyone else think/hope he's the show's Arsenal/Roy Harper?

The scene with his sister seeing his scars made we think it would be neat if during flashbacks we would see how and when he got some of those scars.

Well right at the end we see him get that arrow through his chest so that probably accounts for that scar. In the preview with Deathstroke sticking the knife to him, probably accounts for the scar on his left side.

Apparently they will be showing us how he gets the tattoos and scars.

A very solid second episode. I'm really liking this show so far.

About the end:

[BLACKOUT]I think someone is one the island with him, and he really did get shot, because the place where he got shot matches one of his scars.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]exactly why i thought someone was there... that right shoulder/chest scar[/BLACKOUT]
