Henry Cavill IS Superman: - - - - Part 13

[Man of Steel]

Cavill did a great job as Superman. He did remind me of previous actors, though, mostly Reeve, but also a bit of Welling in the Smallville scenes. I do hope he plays Clark Kent differently in the sequel, since otherwise, everybody will know that he's Superman.

I just kind of wish he had more actual dialogue. I think he's a good enough actor but i almost feel some people will leave with the impression of him just being good enough for a few lines here at a time?

He did really well with what he was given. Actually, I didn't notice his lack of dialogue at all. He was able to express well enough with just his face, and I appreciated that the writers pushed the drama with him as well, so he could do it.

One touch that I liked (I think ) was that Henry made his voice a little higher and nasally during the tornado flashback, to signify that he was an annoying teenage brat at the time. Not even Bale did that, although Bale was maybe playing a bit older and more broody.

Cavill really looked the part, but there were only one or two scenes where his Superman stood out for me. I think he had the potential to be a really memorable Superman with a better written sequel.

Yeah this was the first time i've seen a superman on screen that i actually thought looked pretty damn cool and could stand there next to any of the supposedly "cooler" super-hero's on screen now.

Which is something a few years ago people probably couldn't picture.

I'm surprised some people thought he didn't feel/act like Superman. He WAS Superman, everything about him was great. My only problem is that his Britishness breaks out during the last scene with the military soldier after he takes down the spy drone. And he doesn't look too different as Clark compared to Supes.

I was sold on Cav-El after the oil rig scene. He may very well be my new favorite Superman. You know how hard it was not to stand and applaud at the shot of him reaching towards the sun? What's great is that they gave us enough for this film to be worthy of the name Superman, but have plenty of new ground to cover in the sequel. He needs his own "Dark Knight" moment, something that really elevates him to a new status of hero. Is Henry Cavill's Superman the Man of Steel? Yes, but he can be more.

I'm actually not all that impressed by pecs or biceps. I see similarly pectacled guys at the gym all the time.

What I AM impressed with, are back muscles. Because so many guys ignore it in favor of bench presses and have horrible posture as a result. Henry had nice back muscles too.


Also...poor Henry! He's probably sick of hearing how good-looking he is!

After the movie my sister and I spent an hour or so at Stake and Shake talking about how gorgeous Cavill is. I wish I could say I was ashamed but I wasn't and neither was she.

Unless he is incredibly conceeded all this talk about his looks most be odd for him. I haven't seen this much talk about an actor's looks since Megan Fox in 2007 before and after Transformers hit.

And we all saw what happened with Megan Fox. She went and got plastic surgery on her pretty face.

Luckily Henry's a dude so as long as he doesn't get into any face-scarring car crashes, he should be okay.

And yeah, he's an actor, not a model. So I'm guessing he'd like at least SOME people to comment about his acting.
