All the comments are hilarious but in all seriousness I would like an ending that has batman on a really high building overlooking gotham and then the sun rises and as the first rays of light engulf the cityscape batman leaps and glides away. It would be a great metaphor as in the dawn has finally come for gotham and batman, Bruce finally sees the light(if you know what I mean) and batman is redeemed( mind you he's still a vigilante) thus the dark knight has risen...
If Batman's going to reveal his identity to Gordon, it should be come from Bruce Wayne. For all we know, Gordon thinks Wayne is a dim-witted billionaire. No real animosity towards him, but no admiration either. Then Bruce gives a subtle line pertaining to something only Batman and Gordon would know, a la his reveal to Rachel in Batman Begins and Gary Oldman gives that great Jim Gordon smirk in a moment of understanding.
Trust was a big theme in The Dark Knight, where Batman, Gordon, and Dent all had to trust each other, but they didn't, and look what happened. Batman could come to the conclusion that he and Gordon are in it together and they need a stronger bond if they're going to continue their mission to make Gotham City a better place.
I watched TDK again recently and felt that in the Lamburgini crash scene, it was greatly hinting at the possibility of Gordon knowing Bruce's identity.

okay Walt![]()
How so?
They're just...very coy with each other. You can see it especially when Bruce says, "uh, you think I should go to the hospital?"
That ending has a greater chance of happening than Terry McGuinness ever appearing at all in this movie.
Easy, my friend. That's where the reboot comes in
But seriously, imagine Bane setting up a nuclear device, too big to be moved by a man. Prior to that, Batman defeats Bane, the mob and rushes to the location in an attempt to defuse the bomb, but the code is uncrackable. Bats then gets his batplane and attatches a lead tot he bomb and hoists out into outerspace, where it blows him and the bomb up.
Sounds iconic, and beautiful. I like it.I have always stated since TDK a kickass way to end would be to adapt a scene from the Face the Face arc. In the comics it happened after One Year Later but here:
Batman has cleared his name or redeemed himself in the eyes of the GCPD. Gordon finally reignites the Batsignal. You hear yelling and car horns blowing in the street. Have a Bullock type officer smugly state they're rioting, but Gordon smiles as he looks down at the streets saying "No Detective, they're cheering." We get shots of civilians cheering and stuff, show the reactions of characters we've followed such as Alfred, Fox, and maybe a hint at the Joker, and they're reactions. We see Batman at his parents grave, he looks up at the signal, fade to black.
A perfect ending IMO would be Bruce in the suit at his parents grave.
NoNear the end there is a big Batman and Bane fight scene where Batman gets his ass kicked and Bane breaks his back. Then the cops comes and takes down Bane. Because of the Joker and because of Dent's death and the hunt for Batman, Gotham city and the police force has taken this seriously and Gotham starts becomming more and more a better city in terms of crime and justice and the police and such. When they take Bane in the end while Batman is lying there hurt and unable to fight anymore it will be like 'your work is done, we will take over from now'.
