One of the things I like about the DCEU is that it takes its superheroes seriously. They are not apologetic about it. They dont make fun of themselves. They arent constantly going "Oh we know this comicbook characters are ridiculous so lets not take this seriously". Some "other movies" have had this approach and I kinda feel like its the same way "the cool guys" have always made fun of the geeks, and I feel like its the film community making fun of the geek community, as they are constantly apologising for their superheroes. I am so so glad that Snyder, Affleck, Johns and co arent doing that.
But then can't you also look at it from the opposite perspective in that some people might think those "other movies" have embraced the more whimsical and silly side of comic books, while DC have been the ones lowkey apologizing for it by taking their heroes so seriously? Not bashing, just a genuine question.
I don't know if I can see that really. The comics have taken themselves seriously. So I don't see anything wrong with giving it that same sort of attention.
At the same time, I don't think there's anything wrong with a little self-awareness either.

Well from what we've seen in the JL comic con footage, they seem to be listening to the criticisms of fans and critics alike.
Personally, I don't dislike mind realism in superhero films, but nowadays I'd much prefer comic books based off properties with real lore and superheroics to fully embrace their concepts more. That's what I really like about the MCU for example.
I remember this guy on Reddit who said he saw BVS in L.A at an advanced screening

Lots of false info that r/dccinematic ate up.
-Amboyer is Hal
-Malone is Batgirl
My favorite was that Doomsday was a misdirect and that the real third act villain where Lex's reverse engineered kryptonian drones. And the the entire JL would assemble to defeat them
Even had "proof"

The earliest Superman stories were gritty and grounded. They were filled with stories about crooked businessmen, war profiteers, child abusers, and domestic violence. It wasn't until the Silver Age that the sci-fi fantasy concepts came into vogue. To me, the DCEU is sort of following the trajectory of DC's own comic book history: the early days are more heavily based in grounded realism, which evolves into more high concept fantasy over time as more and more heroes are introduced and the universe of myths expand. I will say, however, that the first DCEU film, Man of Steel included talking servant robots and a space dragon. It had terraforming and holographic artificial intelligence. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice featured a mad scientist who created a monster, an immortal Amazon, and a visit from a time-traveling speedster. The personal and political stories were grounded in realism, yes, but the universe is evolving from that foundation.

I feel the same way. I like that this series of movies is essentially a Superman trilogy by way of the Justice League. I think its a unique, different approach to this shared universe idea. I hope DC continues to do their own thing and not copy the competition.
And it's absolutely the only way to do it. Superman is the only one capable of being the face of the world of superhero's and I love how they've treated that seriously by having Clark work out what it means to be the first publicly known superhero.Yea i like how Superman's the heart of these movies - that includes Suicide Squad as well.
Everything that's happened and is going to happen in these movies is the result of when "Mankind Is Introduced To the Superman."
The events from Man of Steel, of Superman showing up, becomes the catalyst for all these movies. You really have to watch them as one continuous story. Or like when you read a crossover comicbook storyarc.

The problem with putting street level characters on the team is you have to make the foes weak enough for them to be effective against. If you do that it calls into question why Superman needs a team to deal with them.
I wonder if the shark eyes on Momoa was all Snyder or a joint effort between he and Wan or perhaps even originated from Wan solely as they are collaborating together to ensure cohesion between the movies?
I wouldn't be surprised if Wan played a role in that considering Aquaman wasn't initially depicted that way.
So what your saying is, Batman shouldn't be on the JLA?![]()
In the MCU they power down the rest of the Avengers in order to make Hawkeye and Widow look useful. I mean, Cap looks so underpowered in Avengers movies compared to him say beating up Iron Man, and Thor especially gets depowered so that he only fights one on one.
So with Batman, I think they'll primarily make him the guy that is all tactical. He works how to win then coordinates the group tactically. He'll certainly have moments where his gadgets have use, like the kryptonite shot against DD, but mostly tactics. A human just can't compete on a level against super powers, unless he has time to prepare tactically. I do think the DCEU will honour Batman's tactical gifts and experience.
lol, that's why thor wasn't in civil war. dude would've ended the fight in 3 seconds.
