-Have you found the spear?
-I've been a little busy.

Made me smile. Damn, Affleck is so boss as both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

There's also a little moment that I missed on my first viewing, when they're all fighting doomsday, he throws WW an Superman away and then turns around and looks at Batman, Batman makes a Oh **** I'm outta here face and then flies away :hehe: I didn't notice until yesterday

Freaking hilarious

4th viewing was revelatory. 29% on RT my ass. Ding, ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding, ding.

It's kind of amazing that I've seen quite a few people saying that Snyder does not understand those characters, that he's basically a kid playing in the sandbox, and as we see the film, and dissect it and reflect it, we know this couldn't be more wrong.

I feel like too many only see the flash in Snyder's direction, and turn a blind eye to the rest. Man Of Steel is, at least to me, a really poetic, emotional film that shows a really sensitive and skilled director.

Same for BvS.

It is odd given that their RT score for the entire Star Wars prequel trilogy averages around 50% (higher than BvS), though the audience score averages roughly 60% (lower than BvS). Again, this is the Star Wars prequel trilogy. A film series sod bad, so hated, people wish it could be erased from time to the degree if someone asked...
"What is this clone wars and Jar Jar Binks."
people would re-act
"HUH? What the hell are you talking about? Is that a fan-fic of yours?"

Its funny with batman just standing there, he knows that he cant really do much. Im sure hes thinking in his head that he needs upgrades.

Lol yeah
At least he knows his limits :hehe: It's so funny how his eyes get bigger and gets out of Doomsday's way faster than a speeding bullet

So, did you guys catch Clark's dog laying under his coffin?

His dog was there?

Really touching.

The "Martha" scene was fantastic!
But I interpret it little differently: The name "Martha" was not the reason Batman changed him mind, but due to the same name, he was able to realize the true nature of Superman.

The name was so deep in Bruce's subconscious, that it made him stop when he heard it. And that let him hear Superman begging for help and explaining the situation and he sees Lois, this human girl, running towards Superman and Batman realizes that Superman is actually just a guy with a mother too, who's been tricked and has this human girl who cares about him and mother that needs help right now, which is something sooo deep inside his psyche, etc...

I've seen people write similar things elsewhere, and I agree, but I feel like a lot of people seem to have missed an essential point: the name "Martha" didn't make Batman realize that Superman was "a good guy because he had a mother with the same name," but slowed Batman down enough to realize that the Batman-Superman conflict had been entirely orchestrated by Luthor.

Yes, Bruce was clearly angry at the end of the Zod-Superman fight--and understandably so. But Luthor manipulated him and stoked that anger until it consumed him entirely. So when he was able to take a step back, see that Luthor had manipulated him for almost 2 full years since those events, and rethink Superman's character outside of what Lex had done to manipulate him--at that moment, he was able to realize that Superman was not the enemy.

The name "Martha" was the catalyst. Not the entire cause of his reversal of opinion toward Superman.

That, to me, was both really powerful and plausible, and I applaud the story for that level of sophistication.

29% now, eh?

Let's aim for 28%..because that will just be further 'proof' the film is dire and needs to be erased from history. :cwink:

You didn't like it? :(
Loved it. 9/10. Just joking around with all the serious business about RT being the be all and end all. How it apparently 'proves' opinions. I think for myself.

Batman's couple of "oh ****" moments alone was worth the price of admission. I'm thinking a suit upgrade will be in order for JL.

I've been wanting to read some DC comics since I watched the movie. I usually judge a comic book movie's effectiveness by how much it makes me want to expand into other mediums.

Exactly.

Folks just wanted to say goodbye, not that I won't be back but I'm done talking regularly in the BvS forums for many reasons. See you around and I'll probably post in that JL forum eventually. Take care folks been a fun ride (for the most part)

The Trinity working together to defeat Doomsday was freaking awesome. I loved that fight almost as much as the warehouse scene.

I also liked the sort of homage to this:

My biggest positive is the best on screen interpretation of Batman (but the not best movie with Batman in it) and that you are going to see this version of Batman directed by the same guy who directed The Town, Gone Baby Gone and Argo.

Praise for Batman is pretty much universal even among the haters of the movie.

I think the best positive for this movie is that no matter what you think of it, it was a great launching pad for Batfleck and WonderGal.

Watch this guy's review:

Yeah, saw this on Twitter. Moved me to tears. And he only talked about a couple of things. Goddamn it. If only I didn't inhale those reviews before seeing the film, I can't imagine how much I would have loved this movie.
