I think that whether you love or hate the film, that essay should really be used to frame your perspective. The breakdown was just so well articulated. I won't be able to look at the film through any other lens at this point.
I feel the exact same way. I saw a quote on twitter that said "[BvS] has chosen the most cynical way possible to interpret them, at a time in our history when we need that...least".
When I first walked out of the theater, if I'm completely honest this somewhat echoed my feelings. It wasn't how I wanted these characters to be presented. However, after reading this article (and seeing the movie again), when you couple the dark places that these characters are in throughout the majority of this movie with the catharsis that comes from the revenge tragedy, I am of the mindset that this is exactly what we need.
