that kids performance was awesome

Really good episode. I'm honestly concerned that someone else is going to die...

Tonight was goooood. Jan 6th promo looked goooood. And intense. Can't wait for the returns of this and Flash/Arrow.

Absolutely wonderful as usual :woot: Interesting that they seem to be paralleling Shaw and Martine, or maybe I'm just seeing things.

No, I definitely caught that as well. Martine really feels like a darker Shaw; someone who never tried improve herself as a person but instead sort of embraced her 'just following orders' attitude with a side dish of sociopathy.

Wonderful episode. I'm getting quite angry at how little people recognise this show now. It has become on the smartest shows on television, tackling a myriad of speculative concepts with far greater nuance than most science fiction media do, and yet most review sites and 'Best Shows of 201x' lists seem unaware of its existence.

Crashing the world economy is a hell of a way to make a cliffhanger though.

Yeah, the show deserves way more recognition than it gets.

I wonder if/when we'll be getting the soundtrack to season 3.

You'd think a bunch of sites would cover it because of Jonathan Nolan. But nope. Damn shame. (Not even buzz when Interstellar came out?!)

Another fantastic episode. Next one looks NUTS.

I wish we got the previews here, I have to wait until it shows up on youtube.

EDIT: Checked again and it's been uploaded now, looks it'll be crazy. Really hoping everyone makes it out, I'm still recovering from the last time. :oldrazz:

Looks like we finally got to see where Greer's belief (first stated in Season 2) that organized nations are an antiquated notion for the coming future. I'm now more interested in what Greer was doing after burning his personnel file.

As for the other parts of tonight, I had to keep reminding myself during the meeting between the machines that it wasn't actually Root arguing with a little kid. All the chaos that Samaritan is causing and will cause in the future reminds me of what they did with last season's final arc by using Vigilance to cause havoc in the city to fulfill their goals.

The promo for the next episode really looks exciting and interesting since all of Team Machine look to be in trouble and it appears we could be seeing either the end of a team member or possibly Samaritan getting a bit overconfident and the Machine finally fighting back.

Man...I've been trying to figure that out since before this season's premiere. Seasons 1 and 2 soundtracks are amazing.

So...this was a crazy episode. I really liked the old school, cold war era spies flashback with Greer. Really enjoyed it.

The performances were great, too. That kid who served as Samaritan's avatar was amazing. And it was ****ing creepy, too. It seems like The Machine is about as benevolent an AI as can be, and Samaritan is...well, the **** of nightmares. And it's one thing to hear Root call both Samaritan and The Machine gods. But, to actually see Samaritan use the term, and see how it views itself as a god...that was disturbing. You know things will only get worse when the self aware AI views itself like that. It was really nice to see the dynamics, for the first time too, play out in their conversation through their chosen avatars.

The preview for the next episode looks insane. I know alot of people have been expecting someone to die this season, and I think we will. But, they seemed to tease that more than one from Team Machine can wind up dead. There seemed like some final moments for everyone shown in that preview, too.

Dammit!!! Why do we have to wait so long for this.

Good episode. Interesting possibilities. I hate having to wait for next episode.

The scene between the two machines was chilling, the kid playing Samaritan's proxy was very good and helped by another excellent performance from Amy Acker.

I also really enjoyed the Cold War flashbacks of young Greer and how he was shaped, they were really well shot, evoking the classic 70's spy thriller in tone and look.

I get the feeling that the scale of this 3 part arc will result in the show shifting dynamics again, it feels too big for things to return to the status quo when we come out of the other side.

Same here, it wouldn't surprise me that by the end of this arc the machine will cease to exists

I don't know what's going to happen next. It's one of the reasons I like the show. You can go in many different directions.

read a theory about the next episode, and I can totally see it happening.

I wonder if the episode will be set up as The Machine running the same scenario over again, i.e. it plays out a scenario and Harold ends up dead, so it then tries again, changing things until it reaches the "right" conclusion (which I think will be the Machine "killing" itself or sacrificing itself in some way for the team). So the episode is essentially constructed of the same scenario played out with different results, shown from the Machine's perspective.

I'll just echo every praise that's been given to last night's ep. So good! :D

For some reason, they're making it too obvious that Shaw or Root will bite it so I'm starting to question if they will really kill either. Bear better be safe! :argh:

I like this and think it's very likely especially with the title. I'm thinking maybe the machine will sacrifice itself or maybe do something to merge itself with Samaritan as a virus? I dunno.

I can't see the Machine sacrificing itself and ceasing to exist since you'd no longer have Team Machine getting any irrelevant numbers, which would make the show have no purpose. I could easily see the Machine doing some sort of takeover/corruption of Samaritan so that it's no longer a threat to Team Machine and taking/giving orders to Greer and his lackies.

Also, last night's episode hit a series low in both live viewers and 18-49 demo with only 8.8 viewers with a 1.3 demo rating. Not sure CBS did the show any favors by having such a long break between new episodes and also sticking it against The Voice's finale, which also seemed to hurt NCIS: NO. Probably would have been smarter to start the trilogy a week ago instead of that stupid Victoria Secret's fashion show.

who are these (Asian looking?) people? my guess they are ''Samaritans ''parents'', If I recall correctly Greer was in China when he got the Samaritan drives off Arther Claypool perhaps the people in the drawing were the ones who helped put Samaritan online

Yeah, I think it was a mistake to take a week or two off, only to show the mid-season finale after most other series have already aired theirs.

It probably would have been better to air this, the mid-season finale, a week or two ago, and then go into the long wait for the return. I mean, I already have to wait for other series to return because they already aired their mid-season finales too.

That seems likely. I just hope they get at least a little victory.

BTW what was the first scene at last night's ep? I think my DVR screwed up and cut off something. The first scene I got was Finch ordering Shaw's sandwich.
