RoboCop Reboot - Part 1

The opportunity with this re-make is to do a more grounded and not so over-the-top version of the story. I mean I love the original and the Veerhoven-ness it's drenched in, with it's dark humor and satire. But he pretty much perfected that aspect and the way the sequels tried to do the same but failed made them so terrible. I think it's time now to build more on the dramatic and moral-issues of the story.

Oh god, we don't need a Nolan style Robocop movie. Please no....

And again we probably won't with what joe has said about the film so far.

So I would think now its a bust forr any robocop reveals now. Speaking of did they even officially state that we would have had reveal or director was to be there.

Gah!...Was really hoping for something new on this to come out of Comic-Con. We've still got today, but can't see anything materialising, personally.

I know I would have loved to have had more then the posters and reveal of ed 209. And I doubt anything today seeing as the con is over it was just thurs-Sunday. But I guess we just mis read/or mis interupted hearing they would have revealed suit at con/director being there.

The real question about this film...will ED fall down the stairs?

hopefully, complete with pig squeals lol

-DOOM :doom:

I don't know if this has been posted here yet, so I'll post it anyways

They start shooting in september.
That explains why they didn't have anything for CC.
Also this also caught my attention :
Prior to training these few weeks, Kinnaman thought he would have to bulk up as well, but that turned out not to be the case. "I can't gain that much weight, because they already took measurements for the suit," he revealed. "It would be very snug if I gained too much. I mean, I gained a bit because I'm getting strong and working on balance, and doing boxing and martial arts, but it's more about finding a center where I can be in control of my body and open up my movement. So I need to be in very good shape for that."

I don't think Robocop is going to look anything like the old one.

They said his look was going to be like armoured skin...then we see, what appears to be Joel Kinnaman's face and head, all crazy and metallic. Ugh.

I can't really see it going to far from classic. With how ed turned out. For me I still sticking with thought the baseline prototype of robocop will be something along lines of I robot robots. But when murphy is killed they yse his body parts so he be bulkier and I would say something more sleak/akin to ironman suit.

As for joels training comments I bet we see two types of costume full body suits for certain scenes. And others that only have upper/lower torso and wearing mocap suits. Like how they handled ironman.

Thing is though , a combo mo-cap a la Iron Man would mean that he could still bulk up. But Joel has clearly said that he can't gain any weight due to measurements of the suit.
Also this gives me hope that maybe this flick will be R rated.

huge number of VFX = huge budget = PG-13 rating.
Hell Total Recall got a PG-13 rating.
If they decide to use mo-cap suits , the number of VFX shots will increase and thus the chance of this flick being PG-13 will be higher.

Well on the bulking up deal you do have to remember robo doesn't need to bulked up. He is just a regular beat cop and all. Its not like he has to be arnold(prime) size. When suit would be adding size and bulk to him. Plus counting on what the way suit is you don't want to be to big or small so you fit in it. But I still think they will probably have multi type of suits for pratical shooting and cg driven stuff.

This.

I'm really excited for this movie and I'm not even a colossal fan of the original. But something about this project has me looking forward to it most other 2013 movies

and when i was talking about partial suits/mocap suits i meant more like i doubt they need to have joel/stunt folks in the full suit for every scene. Like if they are only shooting somthing from wist up they could not have lower part on actor so its easier for them to perform in, also take for example if they were shooting a scene of robo in a car driving around and we only see robos head/chest/arms would be another scene we wouldnt need a full suit being woren. and mocap suits for maybe scenes with intensive action/cgi- scenes they dont want to damage physical suit in. That wouldnt mean oh they are going cg heavy and be wasting budget money. As for budget i figure it probably in the 100-130mill range.

I was hoping maybe they'd have at least shown the concept art for RC at SDCC, similar to how Marvel showed the GOTG concept art piece. Oh well, I still can't wait to see how it's going to look.

I'm still wondering if they're going to keep it similar to the original design or if it'll be completely new.

The more I hear, the more this Robocop makes me think of Jensen from Deus Ex (which was a very Robocop-inspired story, with several direct and indirect references).

I don't expect him to look at all like the classic. A shame, but so long as it's good, I think I can cope.

Damn, I just found out, Jackie Earle Haley has signed on for the role of "Maddox" who "dispenses the military training to RoboCop". So he's not going to be the main villain... Jesus, who are they going to sign on to play the main villain? Hugh Laurie is the Omnicorp CEO who is presumably one of the villains, but whos going to do his dirty work?

I don't know why the hell they'd put Angelina Jolie kid in this, it makes absolutely no sense.:huh::huh::huh::huh:
