RoboCop Reboot - Part 3

Perhaps I've become one of those awful fan boys who actually wants something to fail...

That's a really sad attitude I have to say.
I never understand why people spend their time with something they have already decided they dont/wont like it.
One would think people want to see good movies, not bad ones...

That was said with my tongue firmly in cheek! I don't want anything to fail, I've just seen very little about this production that I've got excited about, and I'm objectively basing my judgment on the directors previous work, the leaked script and the design work that we've seen in spy pics / artwork.

Heck I'm almost positive that I'll see this at the cinema, as I believe in giving everything a chance. If I don't like it - I will just walk out. It's not the end of the of the world!

Horrible or excellent I think I am going to love this movie either way..... just for different reasons.

I believe this movie will actually be pretty good. I think it just has a lot to live up to.
A
Surprise hit like Rise of the apes was or it will be a mess like the Nicole Kidman body snatcher movie was.

I think it will be good it has a great ensemble cast that I think can carry the movie regardless of how flimsy the script or directing can be. Nobody is certain of either so I think the most logical route is to wait and see. What is certain is Sam Jack, Gary Oldman, Joel K, Kenneth Williams and Michael ****ing Keaton are some of hollywoods best.

I don't put any value into a leaked script sorry. The leaked green lantern script got great reviews but the movie was terrible. So how much value am I suppose to put into something like that? The finished polished project is the ultimate factor like the saying goes it's not who you are it's how you sign your name.

I've completely forgotten about this! Can't wait for the new RoboCop movie.

Still find it funny for a movie set in Detroit, it was never actually filmed there. :oldrazz:

Wonder if they will ever make a statue of this "new" incarnation...

I have, and it's not as bad as it's being made out to be.

But... it HAS to be! It's a remake and all remakes/reboots/reimaginings are awful, dammit! Don't you know the Fanboy Rules of the Internet?!!!

Just look at how bad Man of Steel is going to be!

I know, right!... :oldrazz:

I always found that funny but they always did a great job at making the settings as dirty and gritty as the real Detroit of the time, that's the dirtiest city I've ever been to.

Robocop statue moving forward finally. There was alot of debate on whether this statue should be built

Some thought it was a waste of money. Some thought it was a bad outlook on detroit( Idolizing a future plagued with crime)

Hey John,
I am writing you today as one of the developers or organizers of the Robocop statue. I see that you were not here 24 years ago but I was, so I am enlightening you here on the situation that you missed out on. You were not here during the tipping of police cars for fun after the Tigers won the pennant in 1987, or the shootout on Gratiot that same year after the Pistons won their championship like I was. Let me tell you about Detroit in 1987. Hopefully you will ponder what I am telling you and consider what you are doing. The last thing we want to do is bring back or glorify 1987 Detroit, when the film was made.

I WAS here 24 years ago, up on the west side and did witness quite a bit; the crack epidemic was in full swing and so was corruption and crime. I am going to tell you some **** that will blow your mind if you were not around then. The police were corrupt and racism within the department was amazingly strong. The white cops hung out in bars where you had to be let in by a buzzer and they did not let black people in at all; that was the whole point of the buzzer.

There's a whole approval process that the city goes through when accepting any charitable donation; this isn't any different, despite the popular support. We've made the appropriate steps in getting that process moving along, but we have several potential privately-funded locations on the table as well, not the least of which is across from the Michigan Central Station at Imagination Station. So, regardless of what happens with any of this, the statue is coming, and it will have a place to stand.

We've heard from some of the actors involved in the movie, and everyone has been extremely positive so far. We've also reached out to Peter Weller, and we hope that he's interested in attending the unveiling of the statue when it's completed. That would be incredible— his skills as an actor really made the character.

We've gotten MGM's official licensee in statuary for RoboCop on board (Fred Barton Productions), so that eventuality has already been put to bed. Obviously, it's extremely important to everyone involved that the statue is sanctioned, official, and canon, and we're making all the appropriate efforts in this regard.

Peter Weller even endorsed it

I'm very optimistic/excited about the new movie, and I don't want to sound like a hater but, looking at the statue, I find Robo's feet to be much cooler than the new design. I like how it (the old one) looks like Robo flip flops.

The new one has Iron Man boots :(
