RoboCop Reboot - Part 4

Just watched trailer 3.

I love the fact we hear the "Dead or alive" line! Along with others here, I do hope that the mechanical/robotic twang of Robocops voice is kept and the difference is only in the trailer.

Murphy's memory, seems intact when he wakes. Which looks like the first time he regains consciousness after his "accident" in this latest trailer.
Perhaps this is just prior to the scene where he goes a bit nuts in the other trailer.

I'm hoping that they put him back under and elect to wipe his memories...

:D

Remake of an 80's classic.

I know that's the reason for most of this movie's detractors, but wouldn't that mean that the other two trailers would have received the same backlash?

Unless you mean that the first one really fired them up because it was the first footage we saw of the remake and by the time the other two came out, they'd either accepted it or just ignored it.

So beyond psyched for this movie. I like the cast, the director, the suit(s), and the new approach to a great classic character. I see the tremendous potential and I hope it delivers on it.

I'm wondering if the voice change was just for the international trailer.

Just downloaded the new Total Film issue with Robocop on the cover.

"If anything, it seems Padilha has taken what you might call 'the Nolan approach' - a cocktail of action, ideas, and politics played out on a grand stage. "He didn't come out and say 'I'm going to do to this what Chris Nolan did to the Batman franchise' but he was approaching it from that angle," says Oldman, who knows a thing or two about the Dark Knight." Total Film Magazine

I'm ok with the suit now...just because the silver one in this film didn't look convincing. But I still wish his voice was deeper. :)

That's it, once the initial venom has been spat there isn't usually the incentive to bother with the second and third trailers as the mind has mostly been made up.

Ok I watched the Original Robocop a few days ago for the first time .English is not my native language so sorry in advance for some spelling Problems LOL ,I try my best to make it understandable .
I can honestly say I am old enough to have witnessed the 80´s by my own .I was 13 when Robocop hit the Screens in 1987.I didn´t see it then and i only watched it now ,because I was intersted to see why many people who saw it ,say it´s a masterpiece .I never was interseted in Robocop per se. Secondly I am a big fan of Mr. Oldman ,so it´s a given to watch the reboot or new interpretation or whatever you´ll call it .

I will be despised for that ,but I can´t see why this is a masterpiece .I watched it in original and IMHO it´s just a typically 80´s Action movie .Maybe I am dumb but I don´t see too much social comment .I guess it´s there but it´s nothing that screams in your face .Of course I understand some of it ,that OCP takes controll over Detroit ,the Police and so on and they controll everything ,it´s a reference to the big companys who try to controll everything ,even today .I am aware of that but other movies have such socially comments as well ..Maybe it´s because I am european i don´t know much about what happend in the US in the 80´s ,( remember i was 13 and didn´t simply care LOL ), might be a reason I don´t get it all LOL.Watching it today as a adult didn´t help much ,because i still don´t know what happend in the 80´s .I can only see what happens today because iam old enough .Maybe Padhila will put some Satire in the new one as well ,updated to nowadays Problems . It´s a very pesimistic look into the future this Robo 1987 .I think Bodicker is a typically 80´s bad guy ,he is fun to watch ,though LOL. I think Weller is ,for me, a bit emotionless ,I guess he is meant to be ,but when the flashbacks shown ,where he remembers who he is ,it didn´t grip me emotionally .

There are things that i like quite a lot .I have to admit that the suit still looks great .When he puts down his helmet in this warehouse ,it´s still pretty impressive .It looks actually like he is a real Robot and his face skin looks like it´s only put on a metal skull. The shooting imo would today not cause a PG 17 Rating ( I saw the cineamtic Version ) .It´s not that brutal imo ,or maybe I am jaded a bit ( I am a Girl BTW ) LOL.I think i´ve seen more subtile brutality in movies ,who shocked me more .

In the 80´s Robo ,they show a future like they imagined it in the ,well , 80´s .I am open minded to this reboot or let´s say another perspective of the same orgin Story .
In the original movie Murphy was slowly regain his memory and then hunted the people who have done this to him .
Padhila takes another angle .Murphy knows from the start who he is ( or was ) and has to deal now with other Problems .
What Iam ?
How can live with my Family ? I can´t sleep with my wife anymore .Am I human or machine ,or both ? Who controlls me and my Actions ?

I think it can be very intersting to see it from this angle .How would we react if this would happen to us .I think this are intersting questions .
I don´t think they get rid of all the social comentary ,but maybe they update it to the time and age now .A update to how the world is today and how we see the future now .
The new Robo looks indeed a bit like Batman ,but i guess that is what Robos look like today .The human hand could be a prosthetics with just the feel of a actually hand out of flesh and blood , maybe to make him more approachable for the citizens .

Remakes of movies was always a part of the movie industry and why not .Theaterpieces are always re -interperted LOL .We wouldn´t know Hamlet today ,if they didn´t bring it again and again LOL.Nobody cries about it ,you are free to watch it or not .
I think some movies from old days you can still watch today ( 12 angry man for example ) and some are feel just outdated .IMHO Robo belongs to the latter one ,sorry it´s my opinion .
Phew ,sorry for the long post but i had to write it down ,because it´s sad that many people have so much hate for a still unseen movie ( IMDB ) .Oh and I am not a Studio plant nor have I worked on the new Robo !!! LOL

I am just a normal moviegoer who will give the new Robo a chance .

First tv spot and he still has the robotic voice with the "you're coming with me" line, so I'm hopeful when the visor is worn he'll still have the robotic voice.

Just viewed the trailer on the previous page. I'm getting hyped.

Same thing here lol, I bought a steelbook version and now this pops up!
I was really considering getting this since it was recently on one of the premium channels a few days ago. Glad to know a better version is releasing.

I've seen the one on the left at theaters. It's so...bland. If I hadn't seen the trailer the only thing I'd know is he's in black now.

Yeah the one on the right is the newer one. I haven't looked for a full size of that new one yet

Personally I like both posters but the one on the right is my favorite, it's a pretty rad homage to the originals theatrical poster.

Hey, if anyone is interested, the Asylum has unveiled their latest ripoff, "Android Cop."

Lol
