It feels more like one of those debates that people defending the RoboCop remake think of the remake as a dirty word so they are trying to say, "reboot, not remake."
Well no, it is technically both, I clearly explained this in my earlier posts.
People can say it's a remake, if they insist, since the character originated in film. but this is a "remake" that launches a new franchise with nothing to do with the original. Which makes it a reboot aswell. Re-whatever, it's a movie with no connection to the original, very LITTLE in common with the original, and is meant to launch a new franchise and a new string of movies with new characters. Throw in re-imagining too, it can be applied.
Call it whatever the **** you want, but I'm not defending it, I'm defending the idea of it. I have no idea if I will even like the film or not. But RoboCop is one of my favorite characters.
Same with Spidey, I didn't like ASM, but I sure as hell support it, and will defend the idea behind it, especially when it was first announced and people **** BRICKS.
As an artist I support and understand different interpretations and visions for characters. If I hate it I'll hate it, but I won't put something down for trying!
