Yes, Japan should give it a boost cause they love that spectacle. Superheroes usually don't do all that great there, except for like Spider-Man but give them something visually appealing and they'll see it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 47-year-old actor stands to make about $50 million from the film.
What's the point though? Cameron had a legit reason to re-release Titanic.

I agree, Liam. Avatar had way less competition. That was key for its run.
Avenger will have to go up against Battleship (it will take a bit of The Avenger grossing), MIB 3 (will take bigger hit), Snow White and The Huntman (gaining more and more hype), and Prometheus (gaining more and more Hype).
Avatar only had Sherlock Holmes as competition and it was only the week after. None of the other movies were serious competition.
Word of mouth could sink Battleship ( pun intended) . It's gotten very bad reviews.
t:I hope so, because I really want to have the headline "Avengers, you sank my Battleship!"

Would love to see SLJ Fury sink Battleship with a rocket launcher.
