He'd be crazy not to...and i'm not even talking about the monetary motive here.

Im not that certain. I hope, and im more inclined to think he will, but... i have serious doubts too. He really has a special love for his own stuff. He might ask for more freedom. Time will tell.

He deserves every bit of praise he gets.

Avengers can over take Titanic for Domestic if its lingers in theaters another few weeks.
Its has 106 Mil to go and it did 55 this week.

As for THE AVENGERS, the Marvel gang is somehow still finding records to smash. Even before this weekend's $20.2M take, the movie ended up accounting for more than half of May's domestic box office business all by itself (previous single-month record-holder was SPIDER-MAN with 37%).

More "wow" stats!

Problem is, Marvel doesn't have that many big properties left. Maybe Bird can take over Cap's sequels, or tackle BP.

Its a bit "on the nose", but a Bird directed FF reboot seems like an obvious fit. But I agree that we need to see some new characters now, so maybe a BP or Strange movie.

I think a Cap sequel would also be perfect for Bird.

Obviously there are other directors that could pull off a marvel superhero movie, but Bird is the closest to a sure thing that I can think of. I do like the idea of hiring top notch dramatic directors, a la the HP series, and surrounding them with a seasoned/talented crew. But this is a bit riskier imo.

Exactly. The first time I saw the battleship trailer, I giggled.

So did people in my theater. Doesn't Battleship seem like the type of movie to appear on the Syfy channel?

I agree. If Disney has an opportunity, they should re-release The Avengers back to the theatre, especially if it's IMAX 3-D so moviegoers can really enjoy it on the biggest screen. Cameron did it with his movies like Titanic, and I don't see why Disney shouldn't do the same. I think Avatar's records may be too hard to break, but Titanic is not, and I think TA has a shot at the #2 domestic take. However, I won't be surprised if Cameron decides to re-re-release Titanic just to put some distance between it and TA, though.

Sounds cool. They should show it again @Christmas holiday.

True but I think there's still alot of potential to be tapped from other characters.

Black Panther, Luke Cage, Ant/Giant Man and Wasp, Sub Mariner. While some of these may not be considered "top of the line" characters, I think potentially they could be box office hits with the right director and script.

I think those can be good one off films. Not everything will turn into a franchise though. I don't think there's room for 25 comic franchises.
