It's a Batmanesque shot, but that doesn't make it, in itself, "Iconic".

Batman standing on what looks like a three foot high pile of rubble...just because? Not so much.

Gotta agree with that.

But again, to be balanced, I've only seen cool shots and evidence of good taste from Hafizbat when he posts anything that isn't from TDKT ;) (and I think he posted the original clothification/blue-ification of the DKT suit? Which was super cool. We all sported wood over those pics when they were first posted)

Cheers  We all have our interpretations of things; having different definitions of what is iconic is not a big deal at all. And yes, while I appreciate the TDK trilogy, my heart of hearts is with a BTAS/Arkham/Comics style Batman and Batsuit.

Also, I always get WAYYY too much credit for posting that sweet image everyone loves. I am NOT the creator of that by any means, I just stumbled upon it. All credit should go to the original creator.

By the way BattleAngel, I love your manips and your taste in Batsuits. I was wondering, who would be your absolute favorite artist of Batman? I've seen you manip quite the variety :)

Found Hafizbat's manip of the Dark Knight Trilogy suit.

It looks damn good. At the time, I wanted someone to put Affleck's face in it, as I was *so* bad at making images that there was just no way I could do it. This was barely even a month ago.

I think I've come along way since then... This was my first Batfleck pic. Ahhhh memories.

worstbatsuitever3.jpg

Now THAT is iconic. LOL.

The desire to see Affleck's chin on Hafizbat's pic (and to redeem myself for the Bat-pullups pic, even though it was a joke) is what started me making manips and over the last month or so, I think I've gotten pretty good at it. A bunch of you seem to like what I've done with many of them anyway! So now that my skills are a little better, I figured I'd finally accomplish what I wanted originally - Affleck in the Hafizbat manip suit.

I'm pretty sure I'd poop my pants if that was the suit we got. Of course, by now, I feel like BatFan, Coco, CosBlade and many more of us have improved Batfleck's potential suit design from this - but if we got this, it'd be sweet.

It also answers the question from a few pages back about how we'd like the puzzle suit if it was covered with fabric. Well, judging from the reactions many of us gave to Hafizbat's manip at the time, I think we liked that just fine. ;)

And if it isn't too much work, would you mind manipping Batfleck's face into this image? You are the master of "Batflecking" images, after all :woot:

Does anyone else like Matt Wagner's Batman? I enjoy his style, and I feel he is quite underrated compared to the likes of Jim Lee, Neal Adams, etc.

Great post, but I would like to make it VERY CLEAR that it is NOT my manip!! I merely found it on the web, and I feel INCREDIBLY guilty that I am wrongly receiving credit for that wonderful manip.

Truth be told, I have NEVER made a single manip in my life!! I am merely an admirer of those talented people who do.

Woops, well thanks for clearing that up, Hafizbat! You clearly posted something that resonated with us, even if you didn't make it. What do you think of it with good ol Fleck in there?

Thanks man. Whether you made that pic or not, it was the one that really lit the fire under my buns to try to get my skills up to snuff.

My favorite artist for Batman, even though he hasn't done a ton of official work, is R Grampa. I'm essentially alone in that, though. My R Grampa manip was bashed quite brutally haha. My second favorite is also not at all a fan favorite - Paul Pope. I thought his take was absolutely crazy brilliant.

As far as more mainstream, probably Tony Daniel? Greg Capullo's work on New 52 has somehow managed to make that suit look OK. I'm not as well versed in the knowledge of Batman's creators as some of the folks on here, but it's hard to screw Batman up in my opinion, at least on the page.

There are only two guys whose take I truly freaking hate: Frank Miller and Kelly Jones. I'm all for a demonic Batman, or a wild take on the character, but the Jones Batman takes it wayyyyy too far.

For some reason, it became cool and hipsterish for others to hate on The Dark Knight trilogy. Because of that I'll take any rants or complaints of the whole trilogy as grain of salt.

It's adorable when fanboys go on the defensive. Ever stop to consider that someone might simply not view the films as perfect? You might, and that's great, but people can still love the films despite disliking certain aspects, and criticism in itself does not in itself signify a "hater"

Posts like this illustrate the worst kind of fanboy stereotype and make us all look bad. Rise above.

Oh, and...whoever says this didn't look cool is lying to themselves.

Sorry, his head looks like a bowling ball. You're lying to yourself.

I'm not exactly a hipster, not do I hate the trilogy. I have made the criticisms I make of it now since before TDK was released, however.

As have I. I can't grasp why people hang onto this "you're either with us or against us" attitude.

Personally I think they peaked with the suit in Begins (as far as looks are concerned), and went downhill from there. Still love the movies though.

Glad to share with everyone! Whoever the maker of that image is, he should feel proud. And I think Affleck's face looks great in almost every cowl! The original was obviously made for Bale's face, but you still pulled it off

Wow, you have quite the taste in Batsuits!

I liked the DKT overall (I have some criticisms), but I don't like the suit for any of the films (although the BB suit is the least offensive). I don't have any deep reason for disliking it. I just think it's ugly.

I don't think I did a great job, but it ain't terrible.

Just wanna post this again though since this thread has the tendency to give us all goldfish-style memories, and I want people to look at it. lol, I'm such a weirdo.

Thanks for posting that again. Never hurts to see that beautiful thing again.

I have to agree that there just wasn't that much iconic imagery in Nolan's franchise, especially regarding the suit. Good cinematography? Yes. Iconic imagery? Not so much. There was some, much of it in BEGINS.

Here's a shot from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

Pretty much the only time it looks good is when you can't see most of it.

I thought Begins had some fantastic shots throughout, went downhill after that, maybe 2 or three shots between the entirety of the next two films that even came close to Begins.

His posture, the composition, the way the cape flows...it's like the Begins teaser poster come to life only with an icier color palette. The context of the wreckage around him and the fact that he's standing atop Rachel's remains (technically) just adds to it. The shot feels like Batman. It communicates that operatic/tragic element of the character very well.

I guarantee if that shot had appeared in a Burton movie, some people here would be salivating over it.

There's more than one way to be iconic.
Yup. The word iconic means: 2. (of memorial sculptures, esp those depicting athletes of ancient Greece) having a fixed conventional style.

This image is classic Batman, and whether or not a person finds it personally iconic doesn't define it. Also, if you were to show this image to pretty much anyone I bet the majority would know what movie it was from, whereas a huge minority would be able to place any comic image, making it a debatably more iconic image in pop culture. By the terms of the English language, it is indeed an iconic shot.

There were tons of great moments in Nolan's trilogy and I thought the suit looked more consistently awesome than any previous suit. Personal opinion. Here's hoping Snyder can make the suit feel fresh and even kick it up a notch in the awesome department.

The 2nd one is a publicity photo but not even a frame from the film, as far as I recall. Most of the good shots of the Begins suit are like that - publicity stills taken on set but those shots aren't in the film - shots in the film are much more closely framed.

ok, the second one isn't in the film, just checked the movie, but Begins does have some great shots all the same (that first one is a favorite of him gliding down the stairwell surrounded by the bats he'd summoned, which totally should've reappeared at the end of Rises) with that cape and the costume had a fantastic silhouette thanks to the cowl, it was a shame the other two films ditched that kind of style.

Still my favorite Batman shot from the trilogy.

Snyder better keep the Glider cape, in fact, the sooner the gliding cape becomes a given with Batman in general, the better, creates absolutely fantastic imagery.

I always liked the glider cape.

Funny enough, I think this image would be SCARIER with the grey costume. The grey contrasts with the black and draws attention to the face. When it's all black, the only thing one immediately notices is Bale's mouth :word:

All my favorite Batman shots from TDKT are really only from BB. Barely anything good from the others, IMO.

I feel like he just didn't bother with making Batman appear "big" in the sequels, using shots/positions that made him look..like a person in a costume, rather than a dark creature.
