BvS The Batsuit Thread - - Part 18

Because only dull and generic looking costumes would be worn by a crusading vigilante in the "real world". Anything that looks like the actual source material is "cosplay".(or apparently in the case of Wonder Woman something from a "porno")

All of this times 2.

I love this Bat suit...for 25 years I've waited to see a comics accurate bat suit. That doesn't mean the other bat suits are crap (maybe the Batman and Robin ones). This suit couldn't work in the nolan verse no more than the Adam West suit could work in the Nolan verse. They had to go more comic book-like with this suit because he will eventually be in the Justice League. This universe is going to be more comic book like than people are used to. Hence the comic book like costume. This suit looks like it could stand next to Superman's MOS suit and not look out of place.

I'm really digging the cape and cowl (ears and all; looks excellent), but a bit mum on the rest. The texture and stitching look out of balance, and although I'm indifferent on the utility belt, it is a welcome change if nothing else. There's also something very strange about the gauntlets...I can't quite put my finger on it, but they're off-putting somehow. I'd prefer something more streamlined, along the lines of the New 52 suit, but that's (apparently) just me.

Not real but still cool.

Batman found Kal-El's spaceship.

I accept many opinions that don't jive with my own. Yours is one I don't like and disagree with. I'm telling you that I do not like your reasoning behind this. It's part of the forum experience.

That's just fine-but don't try to tell me that I'm wrong or "not a fan" for preferring one aesthetic over another or not echoing your own opinion. That's part of the "being mature" experience.

There are different interpretations of Batman, each with their own strengths. And no one is holding a gun to our head and saying we can only like one and then by law have to take a dump on all the others.

Important reality.

If someone had not known yesterday that a Batmobile reveal was coming, with this pic it would almost look like he was standing near the Batplane.

Hey...maybe this Batmobile will transform.

It's definitely not the batsuit I expected. I was thinking more along the lines of Tron: Legacy's designs, but this works just fine.

I LOVED those Tron suits. In Tron. Too sleek and sexy for Bats IMO. Would work well in a cartoon. Hopefully whatever replaces Beware the Batman. :barf:

Again, with the only if I'm a "real fan" would I love this costume nonsense. As far as personal aesthetics/storytelling logitics go, this doesn't strike my fancy. Don't take it as a personal slight.

I wasn't that suggesting that "only if you were a real fan you'd love this costume". More like "if you were truly a fan of the character, you wouldn't be so stricken and beholden to one idea of this character who has undergone countless interpretation in his 75 years of existence".

We're just not on the same page so it's all good, dude.

Guys, guys.... the first pic of the new Batman and the new Batmobile has been revealed. The response is overwhelmingly positive. Why is half the thread still dedicated to dissecting the one-line post of one of the few people that hates the suit from several pages ago?

Design cues like I've been wanting the solid chest piece over cloth for the longest time and now it happens. Little things like that to show more external protection like the seams being the same material as his symbol to show the audience he's protected.

No, I asked if you were a fan. You get plenty of people coming onto boards for characters they are not fans of. I apologise if that's how you took it, but it wasn't the case.

I'm still comprehending this.

It's beautiful. So beautiful. I literally did a girly dance on the spot just then.

I wish more people would acknowledge that differing opinions exist and leave it at that. There's far too much arguing in here.

Those are obviously too big and look ridiculous I was thinking more like

Batman-Arkham-Unlockable-Moves-Attacks-and-Combos.jpg

I've never liked the Arkham Asylum/City Suit and Cowl. Big ears? Gross. gawdy gauntlets? Yuck. Overly muscular suit design? Barf.

I need to be honest; judging by that picture, I am not of fan of this look. I don't think it's the design that I don't like, nearly as much as the execution. I love the cowl and love the idea of a gray, fabric based suit. I really hate the sculpted muscle. As soon as I saw it I felt like I was looking at a giant action figure. The texture on suit, from that picture at least, looks to me like a cheap thermal shirt. I'm really disappointed with the leather gauntlets, too, as the armored versions have a great look to them (ie Arkham Asylum) especially when contrasted against the fabric suit.

I think what has me really bummed about the suit is that I saw a number of manips on these boards that I was a big fan of and felt they brought a new vision of the character that still retained everything we love about Batman. There was one specifically that used the Cap suit in Winter Soldier as a basis and looked really great.

Well said. You've articulated some of my issues with the suit much better than I could have, especially with your comments regarding the texture; a cheap thermal shirt is a very apt description I'd say. All in all, I think this helps bring some context to what jmc meant with his "well made cosplay" comment. I'm inclined to agree.

The difference is I don't think anyone else is ridiculous for liking the costume. I understand why they like the costume, I understand why people like the Captain America Avengers costume. Why do I have to go into such detailed lengths to explain my dislike? If people who like it can get away with saying 'It looks awesome! Just like the comic book!' why should I have to justify my opinion in further detail in order to avoid anger? I'm sorry, but as much as I love being a part of the Bat community there's this side of it that I dislike completely, the inability to a) read between the lines and understand what someone is saying b) accept that not everyone loves everything from the comics.

I forgot to add inability to read what people wrote. Onus is on you my friend to read what I wrote and work out the context of what I meant.

So...are people thinking that this iteration of the suit doesn't have any armor because it's not displayed on the outside? I figured it was integrated underneath the cloth and molded to his body somehow.
