It's a very nice design. Looks a little clunky, though. You'd think for fighting Superman he'd want something a little sleeker
I don't know what's up with the Empire cover, but from everything else, it doesn't look clunky at all, especially the set photos of SS, and him swinging and fighting in the BvS trailer, to the mannequin display and the official photo of just the suit on display in the cave. They all make it look similarly powerful yet agile. And with a neck of course :whatever:

I take it you have never read The Dark Knight Returns or seen the animated adaptation...

I have, actually. I get the need for the armour, just would think for fighting a god you'd want something a little easier to move in. In no way a criticism

Was talking about the armour dude

It's really odd for someone with Bats and DC in his username to have no knowledge about TDKR. It's probably the most famous Batman vs Superman fight (even though I believe Lex Luthor: Man Of Steel is their best confrontation).

Yes, it's bizarre, isn't it. I honestly don't know why I chose this username, as clearly I lack any knowledge on the character of Batman. Seriously, my bad.

:whatever:

Seriously, dude. No knowledge at all? I'm glad you're aware of every Batman story I've read, my opinions of them, and to such an extent that you can claim I have "no knowledge" of them. Whatever.

I wonder which previously banned member "Last Of Krypton" is.

If you have an issue with my posting you should address it to me instead of using passing aggressive tactics. It's the second time I've seen you do this.

A Batman fan that doesn't know about TDKR is something I personally have not encountered on a superhero forum. In addition, Zack Snyder has made several references to TDKR, so did nearly every article with a picture dedicated to the mech suit. Even though this film is not a live action adaptation of the comic it borrows several things from it.

In conclusion, even If you didn't read the comics you should know by now that the suit is inspired by Frank Miller's TDKR. Unless this is the day you discovered that Zack Snyder will make a film called Batman v Superman.

I have read TDKR, and know it's inspired by it. I'm not a clueless idiot. Nothing I said implied that I hadn't. But whatever dude.

Then why did you make the following comment?

This doesn't make sense.

"A lifeless photo", LOL. That's a new one around here.
Well is it not? I mean I understand the rule of thirds in photography but this is just odd. The image is (To me anyway) uninteresting and lends nothing to the excitment meter, atleast the (beaten dead horse Mecha BatSuit) image is visually exciting.

Maybe "lackluster" is a better word for you to use in this instance? And what is so odd about it? Each of the three pictures are simple still-photo portraits of the three characters in various settings (clearly not even stills from the film itself), packaged with an early-coverage magazine piece.

I'm sorry that they don't lend anything to your "excitement meter", but what do you expect? The film is still 8 months away from release and we've already seen quite a lot from the film itself in terms of photos, footage, and news -- especially lately. Not every single bit of media/press coverage of the film will contain mind-blowing, revelatory, never-before-seen items from the movie.

Would you prefer that they release in-film still photos of the movie's most exciting and awesome sequences and character interactions now? Or that they hold back on some of the awesomeness for the marketing onslaught that is to come as the film draws nearer and, you know...for the actual film itself?

Yeah, it does look clunky. I never liked Batman wearing mech-suits all that much, but as far as they go, I vastly prefer "Kingdom Come" mech-suit to TDKR one.

Why? He'd want all the protection he could get, e.g. this current armored suit.

Batman could surround himself with three times the armor he's wearing in this movie, and it would still be like cardboard to Superman. It makes more sense for him to be more mobile than heavily armored. He should be armored enough to at least give him a smidge more protection than usual, but enough mobility so he can maneuver a little quicker and perhaps avoid, at least for a short while, actually being man-handled by Supes. There has to be an effective middle ground between protection and agility for this to work.

Was the suit even made for Superman? To me, it looks like he's used it before due to the scratches and whatnot.

Agreed, i get the feeling the bat armor has seen some action. Maybe its just been modified to buy him some time against supes.

I've never been a fan of mech-suits on batman, either. Some people seem to think that if something has appeared in batman's comic history, it's sacred and must be appreciated by all when translated into movie form.

However...the BvS version is starting to grow on me a little or at least it's looking like less of an eyesore. :oldrazz:

I'm actually a bit concerned that the armored Batsuit is being promoted so much. It's everywhere, whereas we have few precious glimpses of the default suit. As cool as it looks, I hope it doesn't overstay it's welcome and have more screentime than the main suit.

I could just be paranoid because of how the overuse of the Batmobile rather spoiled Arkham Knight.

Look how insanely fat and thick Batman is! :whatever:

Still no HD shot of this? :cmad:

It makes plenty of sense for them to promote the armour, it looks cool and its gonna pique the interest of the GA. Its like how AoU promoted the Hulkbuster so much, casual fans hadnt seen anything like it before. Same goes for batman in the mech suit.

I'd assume that he'll only wear it for part of the encounter. Then supes would likely rip it off imo.
It makes sense for them to promote it so much, the GA will eat it up. A lot like how AoU promoted ironman in the hulkbuster so much. Its new, its cool, its interesting and its gonna sell lots of toys.

This doesn't make sense.

Because, as stated above, armour isn't going to protect Batman from a god. He'd want to be mobile. It does look a little clunky IMO. How that has any bearing on my knowledge of the Batman mythos I fail to understand.

Just to clarify - it's not a powered mech suit, just armour. Which seems a little crazy, because it looks so heavy, but that's what it was in TDKR, and Snyder has said something along the same lines about the movie suit.

It was a powered suit in DKR, not just armor. Batman had it plugged in to the city's power, and he explicitly refers to power "feeding" the suit.

Gah, you're right. Although it never really LOOKED like one, there wasn't really any hint of robotic joints or motors.

I think the armor is PART of Batman's overall strategy. Snyder made it clear that it's just there to keep Bats in the game, not that it's a deciding factor in the fight. While it is not going to, point blank, STOP Superman from crushing it like an egg shell it is added protection that Bruce figures he needs in the context of his battle plan, which I and I think a lot others assume is more than just "Turn signal on, attract Superman, do bleed line, throw down with suit on". Despite what the Timm show may present, no, fighting a Superman level being is not as easy as doing a judo throw and jumping on their back.
