Snyder has said the suit is basically about self-preservation, which fits DKR. The suit is powered more to protect Batman than to cause any lasting harm to Supes. Even with all of Gotham's power feeding his suit, Bats still required kryptonite to defeat Supes. The suit just keeps him in the game long enough to bring out the kryptonite and even the playing field.
 
With Batman's eyes glowing in the trailers, I thought it was pretty clear the armored suit is a powered mech suit, not just armor.

I think the glowing eyes indicates a HUD and not much else. The "tech Cowl" we have seen probably is under the helmet and is tied into something which requires computer control I think, it's not so much an operating system for the suit, but giving him remote control to other parts of his battle plan and feeding him some important real time information that is germane to his strategy and tactics, anything from camera operated remote drones and weapons, enhanced video and audio input, or even weather (noting that the rain/cloud cover might play a factor somehow...).

The armor looks to not even be a totally contained thing like the Iron Man suit anyway if you look closely at the pictures we have of it on display. It looks like it fits over the standard costume, as there are gaps where it peeks through. I think it's not quite a powered suit, but there are some high tech functions for sure.

Love the suits, and I love how they both look in them... But man does Ben look like he's saying to Henry, "Honestly... You don't feel a little silly making a living this way?"

Holy hell.,look how much cleaner his suit is comparing the one of him and Supes and the one of him and Zack.
 
That is a manip. But the suit looks great in those Empire Mag shots on set.
