If padman is wearing football type pads then I'm all for the look for the shoulders if properly explained. But if the designers are just stuffing him with padding to look more muscular then batm...padman looks ridiculous.

What's there to explain? Is there really needed an overt exposition for every visual element and something we can easily deduce ourselves?

This is the Batman (batsuit) we need!

I thought it was given that he's padded for protection as a Batsuit should be protective? Even if the muscles are a bit exagerrated. Also, that last shot in the trailer with Superman and Batman, is it me or does the batsuit look so tight, it's almost as if it's been painted on? Haha.

Ah, the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh. :woot: You've got to admire Grant Morrison for having the balls to take such an obscure and clearly outlandish character from the 1950s, and redefine him as a back-up personality for Batman in the event of a psychological breakdown.

Having a balls to do weird stuff and take the narrative into strange directions is pretty much Morrison's M.O. And, as a writer myself, I really do respect him for that.

He should tattoo "ballsy" on his forehead.

I loved that entire run no matter how absurd it got. :funny:

Yeah, I enjoyed the whole run all the way through Return of Bruce Wayne (Dr. Simon Hurt is actually my favorite Batman villain). The end was a bit anticlimactic, though.

Can you imagine DC trying to turn one of his major arcs into an animated film? I personally can't see that happening -- unless, of course, it ends up being close to four hours long.

I really can't. It would end up being like those bizarre thrillers that leave you mind****ed in the end.

Unless they really clean it up and change quite a bit of it, in which case it pretty much wouldn't be Morrison's work anymore.

With all that being said, I would really like to watch "Batman: RIP" film. I like thrillers that leave you mind****ed. :woot:

Wolf, I just want the movie to show that it's not supposed to be a painted on suit over Affleck's body. I get that with Supes, them showing his biceps veins and all that, I'm cool with that. With batman, I want them to show the bulk as being a protection and not as actual muscle, like a bullet proof vest and high tech shoulder pads.

Don't the bullet holes show that clearly?

I thought it is pretty obvious anyway, but regardless I am sure they will show us that with the suit being able to offer protection against bullets and such, like regwec mentioned. When you said "properly explained", I assumed you wanted an expository scene a la Lucius Fox ones from TDK trilogy.

If it's "show, don't tell" approach you would like to get, then I am sure you will.

Sure, and his chest isn't all defined but more bulky like a bullet proof vest. But the shoulders, biceps and legs show a sculpted muscle look. Especially the legs.

I hope you're right. The Lucious Fox scenes were always so cool with him explaining all of the equipment.

Anyway, I'm done with my stupid rant. I'm just nitpicking. I blame it on old age. The cranky old man who complains for the sake of complaining.

Eh, I am not a fan of overt exposition like this. And I always found them to be too similar to James Bond and Q scenes. Even blatantly so. I prefer "show, don't tell" to this sort of exposition to audience.

If we see that the suit protects him against weapons in the fight, it's all the info we need, no need to spell it out. At least, that's where I stand.

This is new to me. Which Morrison's work is this adapting?
I didn't see the whole video, but halfway in I still can't tell.

It's not a direct adaptation of anything he's written; it just borrows bits and pieces from his Batman: R.I.P. run. Not successfully, mind you. :yay:

Yeah, I can see that. :woot:

I miss Bruce Timm. :csad:

Yes, indeed. I still don't understand Final Crisis...got to go back and read it again!

(Hopefully they will do an adaptation of that in DCEU - well, just pick up elements of it, like how much of a threat Darkseid can be. That, and the current storyline - Darkseid War. Both are awesome!).

They are getting better at it, IMO.

This takes cues for a couple of stories - RIP, Battle for Cowl, Batman and Robin (Dick as Batman, Heretic etc).

The padding/muscles don't need an explanation, why would they?
