I love the blueish hue too. If the cape and cowl were indeed that color, it would really look nice and not jarring at all.

Not so sure in my opinion.

I also like the contrast between Gotham and Metropolis. The former is neither a gothic fantasy nor a sparkling modern city, but an old and troubled town with its own bleak grandeur. The latter's gleaming towers and green spaces suggest wealth, progress and genuine community.

Yeah, I wish they would let the entire jaw be free, but I don't know how practical that would be.

Personally? I think that the size and shape of the mouth opening has something to do with the neck turn and holding the cowl in place.

I always thought that Bayle's was way too small and looked liked it squeezed his cheeks. As if that was done to hold the bobble headed cowl in place?

As far as the neck? Ben doesn't really seem to have one..
Not much one can do at that point. Whether a drawing, or a "Sideshow" bust?
The artist can create any look that they wanted..
Doing that on am actor with no neck, and a large head is almost impossible.

Al things considered, what we are getting looks pretty darn cool toy eyes.. And I am loving the different colors in the lighting.

i like the suit. ilike that he looks like a powerlifter. but i dont understand why Affleck is not wearing a muscle suit under his bruce wayne clothes? his shoulders in the batsuit are like 2-3 times wider and bigger.

Because we're not supposed to believe it is all his muscles under the batsuit. I think it is pretty obvious that it has shoulder pads and armor in the front, that are still sculpted that way to look like muscled body which could lead a criminal in dark alley to believe it actually is some nocturnal creature's natural physique.

Also, this might not be intended, but it really helps distinguish Bruce Wayne from Batman and further hide Bruce's identity.

I am certain this is right. A wide-open jawline would allow the mask to prize away from the face, as we saw when Michael Keaton involuntarily jerked his head.

So... where are all the Fatman trolls now?

The suit looks absolutely amazing in this shot...costuming all round so far is incredible – Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman... can't wait to see the rest! :woot:

I believe it wouldn't need to really be bigger. Only thing they would need to do is make the sides of the opening to be pretty much completely vertical, instead of angled, hence becoming narrower at the bottom.

that makes sense. the shoulders on the batsuit look like shoulder pads. i think you are right.

They really do. Superman's shoulders are wide, but look much more natural, one can buy it that it is his actual, very muscled and cut physique. In comparison, ones on Batman look much more like shoulder pads, similarly to ones on American football jerseys, for example:

While the mouth opening is a massive improvment over what he have had, I still feel like they should have made the bottom less rounded, it doesn't show off Ben's chin/jawline that well imo. I mean look at it!

I really don't think the mouth opening would make a whole lot of difference. While Affleck certainly has a great facial shape for the role, he isn't ridiculously lantern-jawed like the following gent (and neither is Batman in every illustration of the character for that matter).

Affeck has a long/dolichocephalic skull with a somewhat narrow chin. Sure, he's square-jawed to an extent -- more so than any of his predecessors in the role -- but, as others have stated, the "puffiness" some are seeing is mostly attributable to his own facial fat, something that isn't normally all that visible but accentuated by the cowl. Moreover, in light of the fact that the upper part of his head is covered, Affleck's most prominent facial feature, i.e., the fleckchin, stands out a little more. That's the way it's been with Batman actors, though. Kilmer, for example, has somewhat full lips; the cowl naturally brought more emphasis to said feature, giving him a somewhat "pouty" look. It's the nature of the beast. No matter what you do, there are always going to be shots/angles from which the actor behind the cowl will look a bit awkward. As comic book fans, we're used to flawlessly rendered illustrations, and while I'm certainly welcome to additional progress on the costume's design, I think getting someone to look exactly like a drawing is a lot more complex than many on here realize.

It's just the way it looks rounded at the bottom. It's most obvious here

Ben is a hollywood actor though and he already looks good for his age. He just needed to cut a bit to bring out more of his facial definition. Hell Hugh Jackman's older than Ben and looks better now than 10 years ago.

I sort of expected to have seen a leaner Ben ala The Town

With regard to "chin fat", I really don't see a substantial difference in the way Affleck appears here.

I understand. I just don't think a larger opening would help to ameliorate your concerns for the reasons I mentioned above.

If padman is wearing football type pads then I'm all for the look for the shoulders if properly explained. But if the designers are just stuffing him with padding to look more muscular then batm...padman looks ridiculous.

I see we've become a little bit crotch-centric again.

Time is a flat circle.
