Not doubting you, fellow Knight of the Soundtable, but how did you come to learn that this is, in fact, the original?

It's not, you can easily see the use of the clone stamp tool on Superman's legs (among other things).

Yeah, I saw that textless version come up on Facebook and "neck fix" was part of the description. Someone's just taken the cover, removed the text and fixed the neck.

Look, there's nothing to worry about, neck-wise. Large traps, in a front-on (or from above) view, with the darkness of the cowl drowning out the shape of things, will basically remove the neck visually. It's an optical illusion.

But we're going to see the cowl in full-motion, at every angle, and with the lighting changing and playing on the surface of the sculpt as he movies. Those factors will remove the optical illusion.

That's why (apart from the fact that it's not Ben, which shouldn't make THAT much difference) the photos of the stuntman from SS don't have the same problem - the shots are all brightly lit and taken at different angles and stuff.

As for the bulkiness, I think we're stuck with it, but I think it'll look a lot better in motion.

Something that is amazing to one is always an eyesore for another.

It is perhaps only fair to note that, where we have seen pictures of Batman without his head hunched over onto his chest, Batman does not appear to have his head hunched over onto his chest.

Empire appear to have selected a worst possible amalgam of various shots of the suit from various angles, a bit like the infamous "gorilla nose" shot of the TDK(R) batsuit.

Considering how thick the suit looks, and how much even the in-universe explanation seems to be that Batman wanted armor designed to intimidate people with his raw strength, I kind of want to see Catwoman or Talia tease him about it in the solo.

That screenshot of Batman and Sups looks great.

Perfect Batsuit is perfect.

suit still looks really good but that cowl is definitely too thick, thought so the first time I saw it and that magazine cover reinforced it

My manip. Honestly, I think it's having similar problems as the Batman Begins suit, where at certain angles, the folding in the neck is weird. I added the face from the leaked promo photo of Batman (the one on the white background), but I also had to remove the lighting on the neck. Also, the lighting on the cowl was just weird in the original photo, Darkening that made the cowl look much better. Oh, and I gave Batman his left knee. His leg looked weird without one.

As for the size of the cowl, it definitely resembles the TDKR size, but Affleck's jaw just isn't as big as the jaw Miller gave his Batman, so the cowl ends up looking too big. Remember how the cowl is much thinner on the stunt double, and therefore much more natural looking. That's certainly the Batman that we'll see on screen, but these promo pictures just show it being way too thick. Thing is, it doesn't look that big at all in that leaked Batman promo picture.

Comments such as these are pointless when we know that the cover completely misrepresents how the cowl looks.

The cowl in this covers look way too big compared to how he looks in motion in the trailers. Not sure if it's the lighting of photoshop or what, but it makes it look like the crappy TDKR skin from the Arkham Knight game, where they thickened his head, but kept the mouth opening and mouth area the same size as the normal skin, which makes it look super awkward and weird.

No, not really. It's still a big cowl. And while it turns better, much better, I think the lighting is still quite odd when it turns. But the stunt double's cowl, and suit, certainly appear to be smaller than Ben Affleck's cowl and suit. But whatever. I like this suit, cowl and all. So I'm not hating on it.

Later in the week, probably.

Shrug, suit looks the same on the Empire cover as it has everywhere else, so I'm not sure why people are reacting to it differently.

To me, it has been comically overmuscled since day one, so another photo where it appears comically overmuscled doesn't make much of an impact. That's okay though. It doesn't need to perfect. I wish it had been muscled the way the MOS Superman suit was, but it's difficult to complain about a suit that actually looks like Batman.
