Ah, fandom. Always getting ourselves worked into a tizzy about marketing when we’re still over a year out. Tale as old as time lol. The real promotional stuff won’t kick in ‘til next year, and I can guarantee there will be zero “awareness” problems with the GA when that happens.
I actually think a bigger problem lately with certain movies has been the opposite: trailers have been playing for TOO long in front of every movie to the point that the audience gets sick of ‘em and wants nothing to do with the movie by the time it actually comes out. I feel like that’s part of what happened with
Argylle and
The Fall Guy. Even I was so sick of those trailers and I had seen
The Fall Guy 2 months early and loved it. Starting to promote a movie too early can be just as detrimental as promoting it too late imo.
We’ll get leaks and pics later this year. I have no worries about that. But Gunn & Co. shouldn’t be worried about marketing the movie at this point, just making it.
