Where was the Avengers Hulk described as being "bloated?"

I thought the CGI in TIH was fantastic. I liked the CGI in Ang Lee's film, but overall, I really disliked Hulk's look in that movie.

I liked both Hulks. But I definitely preferred the Hulk in TIH. I hope we get that Hulk in Avengers with the only changes being very minor or nonexistent.

Yea, i didn't like the pakour thing at the end of TIH. Hulk doesn't scale buildings... he jumps up them in a single bound.

The desert scene vs the army in Ang's Hulk is what i want to see in a Hulk action sequence.

Yes, Hulk leaping around fighting helicopters, dodging and outrunning missiles in Hulk was great.

I didn't mind the Hulk running about on the building tops in TIH, but I would have preferred him leaping.

Oh, yeah I forgot to mention....if you don't mind...I'll be borrowing that picture. :woot:

That was the only other thing (besides the transformation) about the Lee-Hulk that made me giddy.

Yeah Ang nailed the leaps.

I just didn't care for Hulk's size and design in that movie. The fight scenes were just as good and gritty as the ones in TIH.

I liked some of Bana's expressions during the change, but the Hulk was too cartoony looking.

Both movies had both outstanding and lackluster elements.

Random question, what is the budget for this film? And what was it for TIH? That might help draw some comparisons on how much will be invested into the CGI for Hulk.

The budget for TIH was 150 million.

What's unnecessary is changing something that they finally got right (the Hulk's design). In addition to changing his look, the Hulk walked fine in 2008's TIH. No need to suddenly alter the way he moves around, unless you want the general audience to be like, "WTF is he moving around like an orangutan?"

What's unfortunate is the fact that there's some weird, compulsive need to change things, even when they're perfectly fine.

I'm with you on this, I LOVED TIH's Hulk design and I hope the changes they make to him for the Avengers are fairly minor.

I wasn't 100% for the TIH look (I thought he was too skinny and too pale, for example) so I have no problem with developing a new look.

IMO Hulk should look like this throughout the entire movie, both design and cgi level wise.

I agree wholeheartedly, and I would like to add these:

Since we're losing the continuity of what Banner looks like, let's keep the continuity of what the Hulk looks like!
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Agreed. But if they are going to "fix it" at least get someone who knows how to fix it.

Things I would love to see/hear in the Avengers, more Hulk Smash, another Thunderclap. I was as gitty as my buddy 5150 judging a wet tee shirt contest when that happened. "BAH! Puny Humans" and hear the Hulk proclaim "HULK IS THE STRONGEST ONE THERE IS." I think I could die happy if I got all that.

You can't get the Hulk to look more like the Hulk, than the above screen caps.

I also didn't like how easily the Hulk could be damaged in both movies. Ang displayed the Hulk's healing factor which was awesome but I would he was hit with an adamantium tip missile. And in TIH I didn't like the cracks in his skin and the scar on his face. I felt he should have healed from what ever caused those scars instantly. However I was glad to see 50 calibur bullets bounce off his skin.

Yep. Truer words have never been said.

So...um...how's about we just...um...you know...have him look like the above screencaps in The Avengers, then? Yea! :applaud

Agreed and agreed!!

Should his eyes always have the gamma glow, or should they just be green?

One thing I would change is the glowing eyes, I just didn't like them in TIH.

TIH Hulk looks perfect in stills but most of the time iffy in motion, hopefully Motion Capture will do away with that.

And it will kind of suck if he only has 3 lines again.

Teach has the best idea I've seen all day.

I didn't mind the glowing eyes, it seemed as if Hulk had massive amounts of power in him waiting to explode. I thought it was cool, as he over powered Abomination they got brighter...as for those that didn't...maybe if he spoke they wouldn't need them?

How I long to hear those iconic words....Hulk...is...THE...Strongest...One...there...IS!!!

I don't mind Hulk getting hurt by weapons, but they should never be conventional.

Sorry, but the impervious to everything hero bores the crap out of me.

Too skinny? Wtf? He was ripped!!

WAY too skinny. The director himself said he was going for a "lean" look. Look at embarrassing lack of a chest during the campus scene when Blonsky asks "Is that all you've got?"

Hulk shouldn't be lean, he should be -gasp- a hulk.

Just got back from seeing Thor and without giving any spoilers away, it concerns me how much more powerful Thor is depicted in his movie than hulk was in either of his movies. I'm one of the people really looking forward to a Hulk/Thor clash but in order to do this they're either going to have make Hulk a whole lot more powerful or weaken Thor alot.

Well, to get technical Thor should be portrayed as more powerful considering his supernatural status while Hulk is based in science. So it should be a shock to everyone watching when Hulk is actually able to damage Thor.

"They" don't have to make the Hulk more powerful...
The Hulk makes himself more powerful by getting more angry!
(Just messin' with ya, Kirmit!)

But seriously, Kirmit, you raise a good point--
In this day and age of superhero movies and video game characters performing crazy feats,
I want to see the Hulk perform a feat of strength that is so mind-blowing
that I weep openly and give people around me $20. I want to see the Hulk grow
so strong that I have to take the next day off of work so I can just roll around
the floor hugging myself and giggling.

I want little kids in the audience to know that some heroes
might be faster...some might be smarter...some might be better dressers...but
none are stronger than The Strongest One There Is.

It's the only thing he's got; it's his shtick.
He's not particularly smart...he's got messy hair and torn pants.
But he's the strongest. At least give him that on film!

Thor should be more powerful than the Hulk.
Think about it: Thor has more powers than the Hulk...so he is more powerful than the Hulk.
But the Hulk should be stronger. The Hulk can increase his strength while Thor can't.
Thor has so many advantages over the Hulk that he should beat him easily if they were equal in strength
...but the fact that most of their fights have ended in draws, shows that the Hulk has to have
a strength advantage to compensate for Thor's massive powers.
