Oscar Isaac:

This isn't a "race change", This is a guy who looks as much or more like Reed Richards than most of the other actors being suggested.

Yes, comics are a visual medium and I want somebody who looks the way Reed was drawn, so Oscar Isaac meets that requirement.

Oscar Isaac has the graying hair thing going on. The only problem may be the height, but that's an easy fix with camera angles and other tricks. If they make Tom Cruise look 6 feet tall then Hollywood can get away with almost anything.

When has Tom Cruise ever looked 6 feet tall on camera? All he might look is taller than his female co-star, but not 6 ft tall.

Isaac isn't a midget. He's 5'9". If they really want him to look exactly 6 feet, 3 inch lifts will do the trick. No fancy camera angles required.

At 5'9" he would still be taller than that Science Bros, RDJ and Mark Ruffalo are both about 5'8" (actually supposed to be just under it), Paul Rudd is also supposed to be 5'9".

Off topic (sorry) my ignorance but why are latino's considered not white. When european italians, potugese, spanish etc... are? Or are they?

Obviously you have a mix of the native south smericans with european colonials and africans that came over, but europeans are mixes of many races and cultures too.

Sorry if not on topic and ignore if need be. Just curious.

It is a socio/political question as there is nothing biological about our racial/ethnic designators. Beyond the groups you mention you can easily add in Arabs, Persians and lighter skin tonned Southern Asians and it would depend upon what community was asking the question to determine whether or not an ethnic group are seen as "other race". In the play and movie West Side Story the character "Arab" was part of the White gang.

In America, mainly for immigration law purposes to get legal migrant workers, Latinos were officially "white" unless they were visually "Black" for nearly a half century when a political movement coexisting with Black Civil Rights movement started. If you watch something like old Jack Webb productions in their semi documentary style of the LAPD when dealing with Latino suspects Reed and Malloy of Adam-12 in the late 1960's and early 70's describe them as Caucasian in their police radio broadcast. It was just after that period that we started treating Latinos as another race and not an ethnic group much like the nation treated Italian, Irish or Polish backgrounds whose commonality read as mostly Catholic.

Doesn't bring anything. Saying that comics were a visual medium. People getting to know and love the characters was largely down to how they looked as well as their character. Changing that is a big deal.

Why do it?

Try to be as close to the source material as you can.

Saying that if there is a good reason to change do it. Sam as nick was great. But we kept the patch and sam is one of the coolest people on the planet.

Dunno.
Nick fury was also already modeled after SLJ in the ultimate comics so it wasn't much of a change. But Oscar Isaac as reed is hardly a race change, he's just a tad more brown than what he typically is in the comics. The guy looks more like reed than miles teller and ioan gruffudd and they were both already white.

You guys are really selling me on Oscar. I wonder if Marvel has him in mind

I can definitely see it. Strong candidate.

Well, Isaac is latino, but latinos can be of any race and most are mixed with European which Isaac does have European features.

As a latino myself I am ok with this casting for Isaac. I woudnt mind if they even make him culturally latino in the film instead of white.

Neither Guatemalan nor Cuban is considered to be a race.

This, my mother is Guatemalan and the majority of us are mixed with some type of European. Some of course have predominant European ancestors and some dont.

I think it depends, not every latino looks European. Yes many latinos are mixed with European, native american and african but the percentages of these mixes vary. There can be white latinos, native american latinos, black latinos and mixed race latinos. Most latinos in latin america are mixed race, although certain countries like Argentina and Dominican Republic do have predominantly white and black latinos respectively.

How would anyone feel about John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic?

I think Krasinski as Reed would be cool, especially if Emily Blunt is Sue.

Patrick Wilson is my ideal Reed Richards.

1000

He'd be perfect. He's also 6'1 like Reed is in the comics. He's a great actor. See him in films like Little Children. He'd be great but unfortunately he'd be too old for the role when the FF get their next film in the MCU.

I think either would be great choices.

I don't get why people apparently think a superhero can't be under 6 feet call. Who gives a ****?

So does this mean the deal doesn’t need government approval if I’m reading right?
The companies expect the regulatory process to take about 12 to 18 months. The Justice Department is likely to review the transaction, but it does not require congressional approval. Still, past major media mergers have typically come before committees for public hearings.

I do understand that hearings are normal for mergers like this.

Nope it means an elected legislative official is making noises about the deal and perhaps changing the laws but it is the decision of the executive branch unless the judicial branch finds some reason to spike the executive's decision.

Sure. The 5'10 Micheal Keaton doesn't match Bruce Wayne's 6'2 height in the comics and it worked out just fine. The 5'9 Robert Downey Jr. doesn't match Tony Stark's 6'1 height in the comics and it worked out fine.

I don't think people are saying that. And all I was saying is that Tom Cruise has never looked 6ft because someone said that Hollywood has managed to make him look that way on camera. He just looks taller than or the same height as his female co-star, but not 6ft or over.

But some characters who are taller should be taller. Thor shouldn't be shorter than RDJ and require boxes or lifts in his shoes or camera angles to make him taller.

Oscar Isaac has definitely become my top pick. And if any hero is going to be under six feet (Besides Wolverine, obviously) I'd say Reed is fine at that height.

I actually think Oscar Issac could make a good Wolverine.

Height isn’t really something I care about for Reed. All I know is I will be so excited if he gets cast for this.

I actually think Oscar Issac could make a good Wolverine.

Oscar Isaac would be good for almost any comic book movie role. But he's too handsome for Logan. I picture someone more like Jackie Earle Haley in the role who's not especially good-looking. Isaac would be good but Haley for me fits the role better.

Whatever the case: I really don't want a 6-ft something Wolverine again. Wolvie is one of the few characters in comics that that you don't need some handsome, tall, person to play.

Question is who? Someone who fits the description for wolverine yet is also young enough to do the role for at least a decade. I'd guess they should be somewhere around 30 to 35 when they get cast imo.
