Comcast doesn't want Star India?
They probably still do, but it may be easier to deal with Disney after they buy Fox, then continue to keep pushing the price for Fox (and thus Sky) higher.

As I've said before, NBC/Universal wouldn't be able to synergize with Star the way Disney could. With Star's pre-existing Fox content + Marvel + any Disney Studios content that actually appeals to Indians, it could be a real spearhead into the Indian market. A Comcast Star would be static at best.

What about Mr Blue Sky?

What's happening with that?

There won't be anymore Fox-Marvel films post-deal Random. I guarantee Marvel Studios will absorb all Fox Marvel properties no ifs, ands or buts.

I doubt they would be able to anyway as well, my original point was simply about the conversations that will have to take place after the deal is closed before anything con be confirmed. I'm just stating that unless the license agreement says something about company buyouts 20th Century Fox still technically owns the license. They need to discuss the state of films in current production, which gets release and which are canceled and what gonna happen going forward.

Plus I'm just pointing out that they could make a pitch where they finance and use their resources to make future films with Marvel having full creative control. This would allow 20th Century to still make money off of it, for Marvel Studios to focusing their resources on all other films they want to make. It might also be good to use 20th Century as place to release R rated films based on Marvel property giving a certain amount of distance in marketing, kind of like what Netflix is doing. Technically the head of 20th Century and the head of Marvel Studios have the same amount of "power" in the hierarchy of Disney so there could be a potential clash that higher ups at Disney would be the ones that settle, Marvel has the benefit of a proven track record and a stronger relationship to win any disagreement.

I'm not saying that will happen, I'm not saying that should happen, and I'm not saving that Marvel can't guarantee the return of the rights. I'm just saying there needs to be a conversation and legal hurdles (no matter how minor) that will happen after the deal closes. Once that's settle then we'll get an official announcement and Marvel can seriously think about how to integrate these characters.

Bob Iger has been crystal clear. All Marvel properties currently held by Fox will be moved under Marvel Studios. Fox will not make any more Marvel films. Once the deal is closed, the contract is null and void as Disney owns both parties. There are no legal barriers to prevent them from doing anything at that point.

Breaking News: The Green Goblin has just Pumpkin Bombed Rupert Murdoch and the rest of the 21st Century Fox Board of Directors for deciding to sell, inconspicuously, board member Norman Osborn, who was vehemently opposed to the sale, was not present.

Would the DOJ allow that? There are really only two major comic-book publishers, and that would give Disney a virtual monopoly.

It's not just that. You'd get the likes of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck etc potentially crossing paths with Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Daffy Duck etc. It would be a virtual monopoly on cartoon characters too. And probably animated ones as well.

If that did somehow happen though, would the Marvel and DC universes be merged in the comics too?

And I don't see when Disney would have time to put out both Marvel and DC movies. Who would run it? Marvel? They have enough on their plate with the 3 movies a year which could easily go to 4 with the Fox characters under their banner now.

I don't know but Marvel did seriously consider buying DC back in the 80's at one point. Iirc it was anti trust concern that had them walk away in the end (I think they'd had a bogus anti trust lawsuit tossed at them by a smaller competitor at the time and figured it wasn't worth the hassle).

Well they're much bigger now and have the Mouse on their side.

And didn't one of the FFINO defenders just recently try to start a lawsuit about Disney buying Fox?

I would think you keep them separate in both comics and films, but put a Kevin Feige protégé in charge of the films and do a complete reboot.

Well so the story goes its thought they could have got DC back then. They walked when they didn't really need to. Bear in mind it was just DC Comics though (which were in a rough spot at the time), and nothing else from Warners.

Lol. No idea where that's at right now. I suspected they were just trying to force a delay on the vote to give Comcast more time for a big counter offer, but if Comcast are done they aint gonna get anything better than Disney's offer regardless.

I suspect the same. I don't think the suit had any merit to start, so if the judge hasn't dismissed it already, I suspect the shareholder will drop it.

It won't stop the vote regardless. Either the suit will get tossed or withdrawn. Other shareholders who want this completed could turn around and counter sue too.

Tin foil hat time!

Not sure if this has been mentioned here before, and it's probably a bit of a reach, but did anyone notice in AMATW (just saw it yesterday) that
Hope uses the name Susan during the meeting with Burch?
If the start date of production was after the first Iger/Murdoch meeting, I could see Marvel alluding to things to come. Or maybe the meeting happened into production start and this was a rewrite.
