Happy Anniversary....

Is Apocalypse technically an Eternal too?
No, he is a mutant. Thanos is an Eternal in a more roundabout way (Titans Eternals are a bit different from Earths but they had the same source way back in the past).

‘Hope’ is the key word as she doesn’t say ‘certain’. I think ADollarAday made a rather salient point awhile back when he said that the problem doesn’t lie so much on whether or not Sony will be willing to renew the contract for a few more movies the problem lies on whether or not Marvel/Disney will be willing to. Especially if Sony’s conditions for Marvel in order for them to extend the deal is something Marvel will never agree to; like if Sony starts demanding that they have MCU characters into their universe’s movies or having someone like their version of Venom be integrated into the MCU then there’s inevitably going to be problems which will lead to the end of the partnership.

Agreed. This doesn't say "the deal is being extended." It just says she hopes they can reach an agreement. Big difference.

Just read the article and this is exactly why I was hoping Venom would bomb. An Aunt May prequel? That Sinister Six movie still into play? And these are the ones that we are aware of. Venom's success is the worst thing that could have happened to Spiderman in the MCU.

As long as Marvel can use Spidey, I'm happy to ignore Sony and their goofy efforts.

... though I'm concerned how it would work with the villains etc. If Sony has all the side characters, that would sort of stink.

Or is it possible Sony could use whatever characters they want and Marvel could use whatever characters they want with the idea that the Spider-Verse is an alternate universe and even though those characters are appearing in films from both studios, they're different characters?

Wrong V publication :oldrazz:
Vanity Fair. And I'm out of Vanity Fair article views!

Yeah, well..read the article anyway!!! :cmad::cmad::cmad:

They do a counter? That's lame.

Endgame will be a very, very crowded movie. Even more crowded than IW. And Marvel likes to take enough time to introduce their characters properly. That's why I don't see them in Endgame.

That seems kinda contradictory. So Endgame will be too crowded to have a post-credit scene teasing the Eternals, but a post-credit scene teasing the X-Men or FF is fine? You obviously are hoping for a tease for the Fox characters, which is fine, but right now it doesn't make any more sense just by virtue of you liking those characters more.

According to a rumor, casting for the role of the Eternals "Karen" and "Piper" is already underway. That's why an Eternals cameo in Endgame makes more sense than an X-Men or FF one.

Yeah. If they're casting this early, a cameo makes sense.

Did you watch Venom in theaters?

Isnt that what the current deal allows or supposed to do? Thats why Iron Man showed up In Homecoming. I remember the original announcement saying there may be opportunity to bring MCU characters into the Sony movies. it was meant to be a 2 way deal.

Yeah. Way back in the original press release I mentioned, they'd brought up the fact that Sony would be able to use MCU characters in their movies. The Spider-Verse writers just recently talked about how one draft of the script featured a Doctor Strange cameo, though it ended up being cut.

If they want Tom Holland's Spider-Man to show up in Venom 2 or something, the legal groundwork is already there.

The way I understood it is that Spider-Man and his supporting cast would be allowed to be used in films distributed by Disney(i.e Civil War, the Avengers films) in turn Sony would be allowed to use characters from the MCU such as Iron Man and Nick Fury in the Spider-Man films distributed by Sony Pictures & co-produced by Marvel Studios like Homecoming and Far From Home as supporting characters. I didn’t get any indication that it also includes the Sony-verse characters that Marvel Studios had next to no involvement in like Venom. Could be wrong, but I believe the way the deal is set up couldn’t possibly provide the leeway for that to happen but who knows?

I think it's 4 free articles per month and then whatever's after that the page is still accessible but appears like so:

Today is the one-year anniversary of the Disney/Fox announcement, man X-Men and FF.

It hadn't even occurred to me what today was until a little while ago. It's so crazy to think that all this will be completely done in less than half that time.

Also even if the Spider-Man rights didn't immediately revert in a Apple > Sony buyout. Lets not forget that Disney's CEO is member of the apple board this would make it easier to negotiate ether a new deal or buy the rights back all together.

I have a feeling that Marvel is restricted in which villains they can use

They use cookies to track readers, I do believe. One way around that is to use another device or a second browser when you run out of free articles. Or you can just delete their specific cookies, though that's gotten more complicated (at least for me and Chrome).

I'm one of those tech freaks who has multiple phones, a tablet, and two PCs, as well as a browser on my TV. Nobody locks me out. ;)

Here is a link to the Variety Article:

Sony Finally Untangles Its Spider Web

Oh hell, Dan Slott says that he wants to start writing Spider-Man comics again. He'll take that on after he's done destroying Marvel history, I suppose.

“Lily Tomlin’s voice is now my Aunt May in my head,” said Slott—who is so reinvigorated by Into the Spider-Verse that he says he wants to start writing Spider-Man comics again.
