Adam McKay is a fantastic director of both comedy and drama. And Speed Racer is gorgeous and criminally underrated. A McKay directed film in the style of the Speed Racer is perfect.

Sorry but criminally underrated usually means that you liked it but not many others did.

Not saying that others didn't like it, just that the majority didn't. This is reflected in critic and audience ratings. I've not seen it and might love it. Doesn't change the fact that many people didn't.

This might make you angry but My family owns share in Disney, and I vote yes on the merger with Fox for reasons related to the packet and also the X-Men.

I dont care much at this point, after Captain Marvel/Avengers Endgame/Dark Phoenix i am out, none of the companies can be trusted to make consistently good movies anymore.
I will probably go watch Doctor Strange 2, if they fix the tonal flaws the first one had.

As far as im concerned if its not in the MCU its a fake. I get that its important to have different voices and interpretations in hollywood but when its not authentic or coming from the original creators who understand the source material and arent just in it for the dollar signs.

I wont suport Sony or Fox marvel movies due to that reason. Why not create some original IP based off other comics like Fox did with Kingsman?

The Fox xmen films and Sony spiderman films while not authentic adaptations did have their moments and some solid casting as well. But beyond that their fakes. Sony has made it clear they give no thought about the soure material the fact that they want a movie every 2 years is proof they cant be trusted. All they see are $$$ signs. its a miracle into the spiderverse ended up as good as it did.

The fact that fox failed 3 times with the F4 should be proof enough. how do you fail 3 times? Makes you wonder if xmen wasnt a fluke.

You can be a fan of the Sony and Fox Marvel films just dont try and act like their authentic adaptations of the source material or somehow above the MCU cause their dark and gritty. Theyre not.

This kind of non sensical hate and selfishness is exactly the point i was trying to make the other day: "oh, i dont like the fox x-men movies, they should not make them anymore, screw all the people who liked it they dont have the right to watch the movies, the mcu is the only movie company that makes perfect movies and everything else sucks"

Well, the movies exist, they are not fake as much as you would like to pretend otherwise, they are authentic adaptations, they are good, and lots of people enjoy it.

Also i love this: "when its not authentic or coming from the original creators who understand the source material and arent just in it for the dollar signs"

I love how some people bash anything that is not the mcu, then blindly praise the mcu for "getting it right" when is really, really far, far from that.

In defense of Lee's Hulk and the CG, back then CG was not what it is today. So I hardly hold the way Hulk look against him entirely. There were limitations.

That said, that doesn't excuse the script, Nick Nolte being a walking cartoon (though he is only reason to watch the movie at all really) nor the fact Hulk growing like that as he got angrier was just a stupid idea. In short, I don't mind the CG for the era, but plenty of other mistakes were made.

The CGI for that time I was cool with and I actually liked the comic-swipes, my biggest issues with that film was the 3rd act and the form/execution of the final boss/villain. It just felt at a certain point, they kinda lost their way IMO.

Hulk is just a difficult character to translate to film. A Disney+ series could be the way to go. Focus more on bruce. With a few hulk moments here and there.

In all honesty the way you translate hulk on screen be it big or small is go the Peter David route where hulk and banner constantly communicate. Use reflections, make hulk a character, and give both of them an understanding and a fear of each other. If you treat hulk like a character from jump, and you immediately make his existence a crucial part of banner and vice versa you have a success imo.
A Disney + series might be tough to pull off but of you maybe make a 4 part story that is concise and to the point you can do it. It can also work in a 2 hour movie even with an origin in it.

If Marvel did a Disney + series, does it need to include Universal? Doesn't Universal own the movie rights to the Hulk?

Ok, just watched speed racer. Enjoyed it. Would i like a silver surfer film in a similar vein? No, no, no, no.

Other people might want it, not me. Sorry.

I think they key word there is movie. They have distribution rights to hulk solo movies. It shouldn't apply to any appearances in other films or a hulk led show.

I don't think Universal has Hulk TV rights. But could be wrong. Remember Fox couldn't make X-Men TV shows without Marvel/Disney's approval.

There was also a hulk show already in development and would've aired on ABC. I dont think universal had anything to do with that one.

If that's the case then a tv show on the Disney app would be the best bet. This way you can use the Hulk in movies with other characters.

Marvel Studios can use dinosaurs or just Universal own them?

I'm pretty sure dinosaurs are public domain.
Everything I know about the xmen came from the movies, and sadly I never cared for or liked Cyclops and Jean, they are both boring.
No actually that's one of the things the Fox movies got right (though to be fair, in the comics they are a lot less boring). :o It's characters like Storm or Rogue that you shouldn't be liking more than Logan.

The crime of how The Hulk has been treated by Universal and, frankly Marvel, to me is they haven't developed him as a character (though we got a bit in Ragnarok).

When I was a kid, I saw parallels between Hulk and some of my favorite "Monster Movies". When I would watch Frankenstein, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mighty Joe Young, King Kong and others, I would get choked up when the "Monster" was really the victim of society.

When I was kid reading Hulk comic books and the Hulk was out somewhere enjoying the wonder of nature and a moment of peace only to suddenly have his brief moment of happiness disrupted by some a**hole attacking him, I felt a deep sadness and sympathy for the character.

And neither Universal, nor Marvel has really captured that.

And then there are other great parallels with other classic monsters like Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde and even Godzilla (who, like the real Hulk was created by man and the military and their lust for power and willingness to go to the nuclear extreme and in so doing created a monster that they couldn't defeat).

So many great elements pretty much completely squandered up until this point.

/ rant.

That sounds like the 70s TV series, which would be a dull retread to do that formula all over again. If he only Hulks out when he is in a dangerous situation but then is Bruce the rest of the time, that doesn't allow Hulk to be a character but more of a plot device.

Into the Spider-Verse being so good actually makes me kind of wonder if I truly want Sony to lose to the rights. Especially since I think it was far better than Homecoming which underwhelmed me immensely.

Even the sun shines on a dog's arse every now and then. This movie did well but get ready for Aunt May the movie and Silver and Black........two different movies.

Since that Kevin guy from Disney says the deal is almost done and completed, and despite having to deal with both Brazil and Mexico regarding cable sports what month or so will it be done most likely?

I had predicted a while back we'd have a date announced by the end of the year with a closing date before the end of February. I'm still sticking with my end of February date for the closing, but it may not be announced until January.

This is a unique situation in that most deals need a few months to work out all the closing logistics once everything is approved. In this case, everything we're hearing indicates they're working out logistics in parallel so I don't think they'll need much time after the final approval before actually closing.

I think after the start of the year, they'll basically be ready and in a holding pattern, so that the moment the final hurdle is crossed, they'll be ready to go.

They need to work hard to get it finalised for Christmas Day!
