I suspect what is grinding the gears of those tweeting some shade at us all is that we fans are quite naturally happy about this. If Comcast had bought Fox no-one would have been celebrating it as we are with Disney. They might comment on the layoffs, sad news, etc, but that would be it as there would be nothing else to add in regards Marvel fans being excited about it all..

But they should let it go. The tweets never bothered me anyway.

The funny thing is. A month from now no one will care anyway. Everyone will be getting hyped for end game and wondering if well get a xmen or ff tease.

Whoever don’t expect major job losses in a horizontal merger should have their heads checked.

I’m surprised the cut comes so soon sincr usually for any corporation of a decent size and upward it takes time to review positions and the people to cut post-horizontal merger.

When you buy a company you buy the talents too and it’s a good opportunity to upgrade and refresh your workforce. It’s unusual to come in and just cut those in the company you bought. Usually the review takes time — you may even create a new position to accommodate if both people in the same positions are talented, and integration process costs money.

Oh btw should anyone be still tracking. DIS has just filed for approval in Argentina. It turns out that country still uses the process merger notification is filed after completion. It’s a strange world.

I'll quickly give me 2 cents on the 4000 layoffs. They had over a year to prepare for it so I'm quite sure a great many of those people already had jobs lined up. And for the ones that didn't, they'll all be employed again soon. Many of them will like their new jobs better than their old ones. Some of the tweets make it sound like these people are going to die penniless.

I've lost 2 jobs in the past and I had zero warning. I'm doing fine now. I'm sure these folks will be fine in the end as well.

Damn. Disney is an absolute monster. It was before but this is ridiculous. Even though Netflix has 148 million users worldwide and has had a huge head start, I wouldn't put it past the Mouse to eventually catch them in the future. They certainly don't need to with all their other revenue streams, but I wouldn't put it past them anyway.

First they bought Pixar, then Marvel, then Lucasfilm, and now Fox.

Its actually a little ludicrous how much of an advantage they have over other studios in terms of IP they have at their disposal.

That's what they'll need to use to catch up. Exciting times ahead.

Also, great to see Goddard sign an overall deal with 20th Century TV. Hopefully this means good things for his X-Force film in the future.

Man I can't believe they are allow to merge before Argentina approves it.

How soon will Fox stuff be incorporated into disney parks and stores? Will be weird when I'm at the mall and pass by the Disney store and see Simpsons, Avatar, Planet of the Apes, etc merch and then Alien or Predator The Ride at DisneyLand/World and Die Hard Stunt Show

Yeah didn’t expect that either. Probably considered waived since there is no way to get approval before due to the process in that country.
I have a dumb question since I'm a idiot layman: If Argentina blocks the deal for some weird reason could that cause the deal to fall apart or no the deal is closed and there's nothing to worry about?

I think I know the obvious answer but I just want to be sure.

Glad it didn't happen. I know I'm in the minority but as I've said before, I've never liked the character in general and so Deapool in Ragnarok would have ruined it for me

Death's Head would be a far better choice, he would have fit perfectly in the Sakaar part of the film.

Hemsworth is excited about Deadpool in the MCU:D Lots of potential fun interactions with Thor, Starlord and Spidey.

Remove the 4th wall breaking and maybe, just maybe I'd be able to stomach those scenes

Not dumb at all. If it’s waived then it really doesn’t matter to the deal itself whatever happens it only matters its operations in that country. The worst case is to shut part of it even if it can’t sell. I’m sure there is a system in place in Argentina for this situation.

For a merger deal of this scale to be reversed after it is closed it will take something catastrophic. Now it’s really done done.

......Who is that?
Death's Head.

A very strange and interesting Marvel creation being that he first appeared in Marvel UK's books. He had a one off strip first to establish the character as a Marvel owned property then was introduced in the Marvel UK Transformers book. Soon after he met the Doctor in the Marvel UK run of Doctor Who comics. He had a big overhaul in the 90's as Death's Head II.

To be honest fancasts at this stage are a bit pointless as its unlikely anyone we might think of would be considered anyway

Marvel have been canny with their casting choices and most of them have not been anyone on the popular choice radar at all.

When I see fan-casting I usually think: “Hmmm, interesting... but it diesn’t feel quite right.” When it comes to Marvel’s actual casting, it’s pretty much been: “Holy crap, that’s PERFECT! “

So I’m looking forward to seeing who we get with faith that Marvel’s casting knows what they’re doing.

It's like it took him by surprise and on the 20th he found out he'd be losing his job. I thought only Kinberg was that in the dark about it all.

He should've had plenty of time to look for another job and prepare for it. It's not like this has been happening in secret and none of the Fox employees saw this coming.

I can't believe Kinberg was that in the dark due to his existing relationship with Disney and Lucasfilm. Keep in mind, reports indicated he was one of the parties who likely got Josh Trank fired from the Boba Fett movie.
