I do think the Skrulls would have benefited more from being motion capture like Corvus Glaive. You can get the unnatural face shape without worrying about prosthetics conforming to the human face
In an EW interview Ben Mendelsohn said the Skrulls have an Australian accent (Ben's an Aussie) but he speaks 'Murican when impersonating a SHIELD officer.
Specific isn't bad.Why do they have Australian accents? That sounds a bit too specific. They should've found something as neutral as possible. They might end up sounding a bit spoofish with Aussie accents.
The concept art from SDCC definitely looked too inhuman for convincing makeup:The Skrulls don’t look inhuman enough to warrant mo-cap. Prosthetics were definitely the smart way to go. As good as mo Cap has been getting, none of the black order looked as real as the orcs in the original LOTR.

None of that looks too inhuman for makeup. Not even a bit. It's barely different from the orcs in LOTR. And it wasn't like LOTR unlocked some secret makeup formula, there is no reason why you can't have practical makeup just as good 17 years later. The concept art from SDCC definitely looked too inhuman for convincing makeup:

That wouldn't work on a human face and still be able to convey emotion. And not all practical makeup is going to look as good as the Orcs. Some characters need to be Mocap in order to be brought to life properly. Skrulls being one of them.
And I'd argue Ebony Maw looked just as real as any of the Orcs

Mo-Cap Super Skrull if they need him to be the size or Hulk/Korg/Thanos
too scary for test audience kidsWhy the heck didn't they go with that mask for the Raimi Spider-Man flick? What made them go for that completely static helmet?

only posted it, since one guy thought it'd be impossible to do the Skrull concept art in practical make-up and sfxWell what hope is there of having that in the MCU then, since there will be even more kids?
I think he said it was too expensive.Iirc the animatronic Goblin mask was never tested with any audience. Raimi just decided against it before they even cast the role.

Obviously, the Skrulls have Aussie accents because as cosmopolitan spacefarers they wanted to sound sexy af. "Neutral" just wasn't gonna cut it.
