IMAX Global forecast has been raised to $110M from $100M by Piper Jaffray.

It'll make $100+ million domestic, never mind worldwide. It's probably going to make around $20m during the opening weekend here. TDK had a 10 multiplier in IMAX. I don't think this one will be able to pull that off because it will have to give up its screens a little bit sooner than TDK did, but I definitely think it can pull off a 5 multiplier and get to $100m. It has exclusive rights to IMAX for almost two months if I'm not mistaken.

Guys, don't get your hopes up too much. 190 million is a grand and attainable goal. 214 million is.....eh, overshooting it. Or maybe it's just the cynic in me talking. The cynic who has to deal with the T-metre being in its mid eighties when he expected ninety and up.

There's a handful of articles printing the same stuff since last week but until recently, tracking is at $180 Mil and interest is 6 points higher than The Avengers around the time of it's release and predictions of $190-$200+ million for OW. Its a realistic approach, common sense, and plain mathematics that TDKR can't cross $200 mil without 3D but we may be in for a surprise.

Yes Warner has an exclusivity contract with IMAX. No doubt whatever else happens DKR will own the IMAX record for some time to come.

whoa :O, didn't expect that (if it happens).

I'm not sure about that. Do we even know how much Avatar made in IMAX? I don't know if they ever gave us a final number for it. From what I've heard, supposedly it was over $100m. TDKR has a shot to beat that if it has strong enough legs in the format.

It will due to more IMAX theaters and the fact that 60+ mins of footage was filmed strictly for IMAX and also the 2-3 month exclusive window. It's tracking to gross $100-$110 Mil for IMAX altogether.

I just want it to make 200 million OW because i think it'd be the first 2-d movie to make that much without the help of 3-d tickets i could care less if it beats Avengers OW I just want 200

Good question, I don't really know. I'll have to see if I can look that up, but I believe DKR will have IMAX locked up through September.

Saw the 12am screening last night and it was a packed house. My room mate just got back from the 11am screening and said the same thing, and its a work day. People must be having sickies from work to go see it lol

During the past week, the IMAX corporation released further details on Avatar's IMAX run. The film reached $100 million internationally from 85 international screens to go with its more than $125 million domestic IMAX total. Worldwide it has now made $228 million on 262 screens. All these numbers are records, the international box office, the worldwide box office, the screen counts, everything.

I don't believe BoxOfficeMojo's prediction for the opening weekend. I'll be very shocked if TDKR beats Avengers' opening weekend.

Eh, just last week we were saying it would hit just under the 200 mil mark, now we think it might take the OW record?

We'll see, but I'd be super surprised.

I'd be extremely surprised if it goes over 190, I really would.

After seeing this movie... I think the final tally will be around $300m domestic.

Imo, this movie is not as powerful as tdk.

Well thats like, your opinion man. :oldrazz:
I thought it was much more powerful than TDK, in every way.

If a number of theatres stay open for 24 hours ,
Then , that might be reflected in next weeks drop off, whatever it might be .
Unless theatres go 24 hours two weekends in a row depending on demand.
