As far as I remember it crossed 1 billion faster than TDK?
Yes. And TDKR has surpassed TDK's worldwide gross as well.

where did u get the info that TDKR is off to a good start in Italy? Can u post the link?
The international number is a rough estimate because accurate figures from China won't come in until Tuesday morning. Warner Bros. estimates that The Dark Knight Rises took in $28.5 million from nearly 4,100 screens in China. In Italy, the action flick grabbed $8.8 million from 836 screens.
It took 7 months for TDK to reached a billion. TDKR took just 7 weeks to get there. As far as I remember it crossed 1 billion faster than TDK?

TDKR and TDK will be the last 2D films to ever reach that mark.
And a winter re-release if I remember correctly? It's great that the movie is doing so well!It took 7 months for TDK to reached a billion. TDKR took just 7 weeks to get there.![]()

:Pirates of the Caribbean.
Thank u. So The TDK trilogy is in exclusive company on both lists. 1 of 2 franchises with 2 movies in domestic top 10, and 1 of 2 with two billion dollar movies. And it did it with less movies than star wars and pirates. Beautiful.
I think now is a very good time to really rub it in the face of the idiots who used to claim that TDK was an enormous success only because Heath Ledger died and because the film was some sort of proverbial "perfect storm" and "lightning in a bottle". Heck, if I remember correctly, quite a lot of people in this place are about to receive a healthy serving of crow because the very idea of TDKR outgrossing TDK was generally deemed ludicrous and unrealistic. Well, as they say, there's a first time for everything.![]()

Do any other franchises have two movies with 1 billion?
