Yeah, I agree, this "news" is very iffy indeed. Why would Bale's Bruce Wayne go through so much trouble to basically stage his death (his and Batman's), abandon his entire identity as Bruce Wayne, flee the country, and start a brand new normal life, just to be Batman again in a very public hero league? Everyone in Gotham will be scratching their heads. It just doesn't make any sense. The only thing I can think of is if Bale's Bruce is taking the Batman Incorporated approach (multiple Batmen), but even there he can bring in anyone else to fill in the Dark Knight's shoes exclusively for the Justice League. Yeah, I just can't see this happening.

Bruce could return because the world is in trouble? If Gotham was attacked again on the size and scale of Bane's or Joker's or Ra's' attacks, even if Gordon had retired, would you expect him to sit on his ass? Bruce was a beacon of hope to one of the greatest cities on Earth, his return could reignite that hope in a world where the flame had seemingly been extinguished.

If Nolan wanted to take a literary example, like he did with Tale of Two Cities for The Dark Knight Rises, he could liken Bruce donning the cowl for war as to that of King Arthur in The Once And Future King.

Taking this news with a big grain of salt.

i hope that rumor isnt true... i like my nolan trilogy untouched and sequel/prequel/spinoff -free

For all the dump TDKR has taken, this rumor of Nolan and Bale coming back is sure getting more positive reactions than negative. Heck, it even trended on Twitter.

Why do we automatically assume a Supes/Bat flick would be a continuation/sequel to TDK? Another director would have taken Batman in a different direction anyways and all the TDK fanboys (which I am one) were going to have to get over the fact that the next Bats was always going to be different. Why wouldn't Nolan like to get to evolve even his own version? Superman can't fit in TDK, so doesn't the new film have to be a new "universe" anyways? Let's have an open mind here.

... huh? You can't "evolve" your version of the universe and have it be in a different universe, no matter how open-minded you are... that's a contradiction. I'm not sure I understand what you are getting at.

I think they should make a Superman/Batman (World's Finest) film with Bale & Cavill first then Justice League film.

That would provide a smoother transition. Possibly the best way to go, if they could get Bale down for three films.

Lol, no one on here ever thought that that maybe, even while Bale would be portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman, it won't have anything to do with The Dark Knight Trilogy? We've seen it being used for example as having the same guy voice Hulk in films that have no relation, so why would it be difficult to use a guy that seems to be the "definitive" Batman to a lot of people if Warner Brothers are stuck in the road on a Batman reboot? Just use the character for a Justice League and its sequels, if it's truly legit.

Continuity in this sort of project is completely irrelevant. Its a bunch of superheroes together. That's the idea. Its Batman and Superman ! That's the movie.

Wb must be crazy if they dont capitalize of the brand they spent developing. Nolan's name , TDK trilogy and Bale as Bruce Wayne.

They have a story set in stone. With a beginning , middle and end. Now they can grab the actor , make some lame excuses in the storyline and put him back in the game.

The lame excuse could be...the trilogy doesn't exist, lol. Which, I'd be fine with that to be honest.

Besides, I'd rather get something like JL, or World's Finest, with Bale as Batman and Cavill as Superman than anyone else in those roles.

Just look at Skyfall . A sequel about two Bond movies where he's starting. Skyfall appears and he's already too old for the job. lol Nobody really cared. People liked it. Its a huge success. Period. That's how these stories work. Time is very very elastic.

Nothing that will be made changes the trilogy.

Bale is a great actor. He's also a great Batman. He was very successful. Only if they are nuts , they'll be trying to start something new. At least that how i would look at it , if it was my money at stake :woot:

The James Bond films are quite different as we are used to a lot of standalone films, though. I'm not saying people would care if Bale just returns as Batman, but the best thing is to not look back at the trilogy and keep the trilogy just its own thing.

This how it should go

TDK- trilogy

Man Of Steel

World's Finest

Wonder Woman

Trinity

Justice League

Flash

Green Lantern

Aquaman

etc. (teen titans....

I'd rather see a Flash/Green Lantern team-up, buddy cop film.

They were different . Why ? Because people got used to it. Just like they will with superheroes. Especially with universes starting to be shared , and the "reboots" fever . The x-men franchise already did something similar.

There's a Simpsons episode where i think its Marge who ponders about Homer's getting an Horse , and the comic book guy tells them that this situation already happened in a previous episode (with hilarious consequences he remarks !!)...Homer looks at a crowd and asks if anyone cares what this jerk thinks :funny:. That's kinda it.

Whatever, i think the JLA film should be built up from the Trinity film. Established Bats, Sups & Wondy first and use that as the launching pad for the gathering of the League.

They could also use the Interstellar story.

They open a black hole , and Bruce Wayne is chilling in Europe and gets swallowed to another dimension :wow:

But that's my point. People will get use to it, but...leave the TDK trilogy as its own being. Using Bale again won't do anything to cheapen the trilogy if it has nothing to do with the trilogy. Just use a guy that's the definitive version to many for a JL film. I mean, hell, if Robert Downey, Jr. wasn't in the MCU and he played Iron Man for a different studio...I'd want his Iron Man to be in an Avengers film.

Tough one for me as I always wanted a solo Wonder Woman film of her being a fish out of water before she ends up teaming up with two men.

BOOM!

Interstellar/DCU instant cross-over! :awesome:

Poor Bruce. He just wants to retire with Selina and then he got sucked into another dimension where he's needed. :lmao:

I hope wb remembers me when they get that big fat check after they merged 3 different movies !!

I think people would get confused on the continuity. If this is going to be some sort of Nolan-shepherded project, I'd rather it not be like the X-Men films where the continuity is clearly screwed up.

I don't think people will be confused at all except for some fans that just don't "get it".

I mean, literally no one made a ruckus about two different Devastators in the Bayformers films, lol.
