I'd love to have seen TDK in IMAX. Enjoy.

Never got to see it in IMAX Joker? That's too bad, I really hope you get to someday. It added to the experience immeasurably for me. I was lucky enough to see TDK 4 times in IMAX, TDKR 3 times, very grateful for that but I'd go again in a heartbeat if they brought a trilogy marathon to the States. Seems to happen much more often in the UK, as least as of now.

I still remember going to the viral screening of the TDK prologue (where I met Jonah Nolan afterwards- super down to earth guy btw) and seeing that footage in IMAX for the first time. Going from the 2.35:1 blue flame Bat symbol to full screen IMAX for that first helicopter shot of the building...you could feel everyone in the room's heart skip a beat. It completely set the tone for everything that was to come.

I live in Ireland, and back in 2008 there was no IMAX cinemas in Dublin. Since then a few have sprung up. I got to see TDKR in one of them which was great.

I gotcha. Hopefully they'll bring TDK to an IMAX in Ireland sometime. I'm hoping in general to see more Batman movies popping up in theaters as BvS approaches.

I've never seen any movie in IMAX. :( The one down here in Adelaide, Australia closed years before TDK. If I can organise it, I might get a group of friends and head over to Melbourne for SW: TFA. Would be a lot of fun.

I think it's worth it titansupes if you can organize it. I've never had to travel to get to an IMAX, but my friends and I did wait in line for 12 hours for the TDK and TDKR midnight shows to ensure good seats. Totally worth it though. Of course only within the past year has the theater implemented assigned seating btw, haha. Although truthfully, hanging out with fellow fans in line is half the fun.

Still my two favorite moviegoing experiences of all time. I'm hoping my SW: TFA will take a place beside those nights. Although I'll be slightly bummed if it's only offered in IMAX 3D.

I've only heard IMAX 3D. It was shot on 35 and IMAX 70mm (for one sequence) but it will be post-converted to 3D. Which sucks, and doesn't make sense monetarily with IMAX because the tickets cost the same either way.

Unfortunately, it seems like a lot think 3D means premium, so IMAX 3D is twice as special. :o

I saw TDK once in Imax, Rises twice. Seeing Interstellar and Gravity was insane in real Imax. Especially Interstellar because im really not a fan of 3D. Ghost Protocol with the Rises prologue/sizzle reel before it was also incredible.

True. But people will still see it. They could be playing a distorted, 20-year old VHS recording of it on a 10 inch TV and people will still pay full price for it.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I actually just did a little research, and it sounds like there are plans to have select theaters with dual 70mm projectors for 3D, rather than digital post-conversion. Even though I still am annoyed I'll have no choice but to wear the glasses if I see it in IMAX, the possibility of seeing it projected on film still probably keeps it as my top option for the first viewing. I was on the fence if it was going to be all digital IMAX 3D.

Makes you appreciate the freedom Nolan was given at WB to present the films the way he wanted them presented. I'm sure JJ would probably prefer if IMAX 3D wasn't the only option for audiences looking to see it in large format, but even he is no match for The Mouse and that $4 billion investment they're looking to recoup.

Seeing the trilogy in IMAX is truly amazing. And yeah, the BFI IMAX in London has TDK trilogy marathon every year, sometimes twice. I attended last June for the first time (as I recently moved to live in the UK), and this Saturday is my second time there. Can't wait, mainly because the IMAX screen at my home city (Sofia, Bulgaria) is much smaller, the sound isn't as good and overall the experience isn't as satisfying. The BFI on the other hand, is something else.

Only negative things are, that I have to travel an hour and a half by bus from Bath to London, and then sit there in the cinema from 00:00 to 6:00 a.m, but for these movies, it is worth it.

No one said that making Superman all out crazy sci fi is the only thing you have to do to make a good Superman film. It should go without saying that execution is just as, if not more important.

If Superman didn't have the same level of appeal as other heroes, he would've fallen by the wayside already. To say people only like the idea of Superman is strange to me. Superman has consistently been one of the biggest and most popular Superheroes of all time. You don't become or stay that popular by people merely liking the idea of you. The problem isn't Superman's appeal, its that there hasn't been a good Superman film since 1980 (IMO), there's yet to be a good Superman video game, and he doesn't have the constant media push that Batman gets.

Co-sign on every thing, especially the bolded.

Before 1986 (The Dark Knight Returns) and 1989 (first Batman movie), Superman was DC's biggest cash cow, the one the company pushed. All he needs is for Warner/DC to push him again like they did from the 1930s to the 1970s/early 80s.

Look at Wolverine. He made his debut in 1974, but really got his push in the mid 80s to where he's up there with Batman and Spider-Man as the most exposed comic book characters today.

I need to visit London next June.

Good idea, but to let you know, it is not on a fixed date every year. Last year happened to be in June. Next year might be on a different month. Just be sure to regularly check the BFI IMAX webpage for screenings. They will also show a LOTR marathon on 12 September. I really wanted to check it as well, but won't be able to.

Thanks I will do. I have cousins living in London, so it will be extra handy for me to see them and the TDK trilogy.

Before we knew 'desi basara', the chant was just something incomprehensible to us. Many tried to decipher what it meant. We got many amusing and out there theories out of it. For example, some people were convinced it was "Bane! Bane! Matalo! Matalo!", meaning "Bane! Bane! Kill him! Kill him!" or something in Spanish.

What did you think the chant was?

I remember when I first heard the chant on the TDKR viral site, it was fresh off some of the set pics of the "Lazarus Pit" in India and news of Young Ra's al Ghul being cast in the movie. So when I first heard the chant, I had no idea what it was saying but I immediately pictured a group of LoS members in a circle in down in the Lazarus pit, chanting in a ritual either appointing Bane as the new leader or a ritual where they believed Ra's was being resurrected- even though I knew the latter wouldn't happen in a Nolan movie.

I never bought Bane Bane Matalo though, it just never sounded like that to me. It does sound like Fishy Fishy Pasta though. :woot:

^ I remember seeing the pit pic, and the pic of Bale at the airport with the grey streaks in his hair. That got me very excited.

I was originally excited when I heard the chant. I figured it was some secret sect of the los and they were chanting bane's praises in some sort of cult fashion.

I didn't know what to make of the chant. I remember some people thought Deacon Blackfire and his cult were going to be in it.

I will say, the use of the chant in the marketing was pretty ingenious. It was mysterious and menacing made you want to know more, but got you pumped at the same time. And it made it all the sweeter when it got its ultimate payoff in the movie during the climb.
