definitely. seeing as how sony's releasing a standalone white ps4.
they are?
definitely. seeing as how sony's releasing a standalone white ps4.
That probably wasn't the wisest business move. But would it take Microsoft long to introduce a 1 TB Xbox One? I assume they just put in a 1 TB drive instead of a 500 GB drive.
It'll probably take longer to manufacture the boxes the Xbones come in.
Still, most people probably think 500 GB is plenty. Until they start actually installing games. I know I did until recently.
especially since the X1, unlike the PS4, isn't upgradeable hdd wise.
.
That and the fact MS offers external HDD storage. The avg person would much rather plug in an external HDD than open up their system and risk breaking something, all to swap out a HDD.
They offer external storage, which to the avg consumer is the far more attractive option.
consumers, like me, who are strongly considering getting an X1 this Holiday may simply decide to hold off and wait for a standalone model with a bigger hdd. and if there are enough such consumers, that could actually hurt the Holiday sales of the X1. much like I'm sure announcing the cheaper Kinectless bundle probably hurt sales a bit as consumers simply waited for that version to come out.
Yea it could, I just don't think theres enough of you out there to matter. There aren't that many consumers(who are in the market) who will pass up an X1 because they rather be able to open up their console, rather than quickly and easily plug in an external HDD.
I mean i agree, I don't know why MS doesnt make it easier for you to swap out an internal HDD, even if its not a feature requested by a large portion of their audience. Never really understood it. But, in their defense, they offer a much easier solution to that particular issue.
the trade off, though, is that it means more wires sticking out of your machine.
Thats a VERY lopsided trade off considering there are USB ports on the rear of the console and the console is so damn big, the chances of you seeing ANY wires coming from the rear of it are slim.
speaking of external storage, just curious......
but can you save all of your profile, gamertag, personal info, etc. on the external drive instead of the internal hdd?
or is all of your profile data, along with the system OS/UI, stored on the internal drive?
Im not sure, im assuming all the OS stuff is stored on the internal HDD as well as in Microsofts cloud.
Ironically, if the CoD edition had just included a standard black console and controller, plus the game, I'd actually be open to getting it, even though I don't have interest in the game. I'd get it just for the bigger hdd and look at the game as a bonus......lol.
so, with the CoD 1 TB bundle coming out early Nov, do you think there's a chance by XMAS time that they will release a stand alone 1 TB console?
or, would that be too soon?
that doesn't really tell me why the xbone hasn't been released in said territories. whatever regulation the xbone will have the go through the Ps4 is already going through, so why wait?
ah. ok.
well, I think MS could risk losing X1 sales this Holiday if they don't release a standalone 1 TB console.
if nothing for the simple fact that potential consumers, who are thinking about getting an X1, but who don't care for a CoD edition one, may simply hold off purchasing a 500 GB console if they expect a 1 TB version coming soon.
especially since the X1, unlike the PS4, isn't upgradeable hdd wise.
So, either MS reverses course and offers customers some kind of solution to upgrade the 500 GB model, or they release a standalone 1 TB model.
Most likely, we would've already heard about that if it were the case.
You want to focus on the regions that are most important to you first. A territory like Japan, for instance, is one in which the Xbox brand has always flopped and the home console market is pretty much dying isn't one that you want to put a huge amount of effort into. At some point, you want to have that worldwide base, but you want to get to the markets you know you have the strongest chances in first and get established, and for MS, that's primarily Europe and North American.
that's 1 market, and for your information, xbones preorders are actually pretty high and even selling out from what i've heard
but the Ps4 is out in more than twice the amount of territories than xbone. i understand releasing your console in higher priority areas first but it's been like half a year, and the Ps4 is out in way more territories, why prolong the release for the xbone?
What's the reason(s) for consoles dying out in Japan? Used to be a huge market. In Japan? Well, you've heard either wrong or the amount to stock they'll be getting is very low, because the Xbox brand as been DOA there since the original. And, like I said, home consoles are on life support. The PS4 had a soft launch and is behind the Wii U there, and the Wii U isn't doing well, either.
I know Xbox is DOA in Japan but if you remember, there was a streak of weeks where the 360 was outselling Ps3 in Japan, and now we have this.In Japan? And I'm aware it's one market. I said for instance because I used it as an example.
well yeah obviously. I am not a student of industrial organization, but whatever processes microsoft needs to go through to launch the xbone in unreleased regions, sony has already done so with the Ps4. my question is then why isn't microsoft up to speed? You seem to not really understand the underlying point that it takes time and effort to launch a system. It's more than just shipping a bunch of consoles to a region and saying, "There you go guys, have fun!" You have to have localization, deals with retailers, deal with regional taxes, customs, laws, etc.
It's just a case of MS focusing on their primary markets right now. They know were their userbase is, and they want to get a strong a foothold there as possible especially since they have such direct competition in those regions as of now. They'll get to other regions, but they know they aren't going to be nearly as important or worth the amount of effort they are putting into Europe and North American.

Yeah the Xbox brand has always been worthless over there, even the 360 at its peak did nothing.

looks like things are changing.

and I completely understand microsoft knows where their strongest foundations for continuing a fanbase is. but when you watch fanboys argue, sony's will say how Ps4 is more than double the sales of xbone at 10 million, while microsoft's will say that xbone is at half the sales at less than half the amount of regions released, so it is not saying much at all that Ps4 is in the lead
