That's a pretty different thing. That really would shock me. I mean, maybe next year, but priced higher along with the models we have now.

I could perhaps see a 1 TB Xbone with Kinect for 499.

I would find that tempting.

I could see them doing a 1TB model ( without Kinect ) for $450.

I think $500 would be pushing it if it doesn't include Kinect or a bundled game. The COD bundle is $500 because it's a limited edition design + a game.

price hurt MS at the beginning, so I doubt they want to go there again.

Thats always a risk you take, what if you wait for a standard 1TB console then a few months later they release a special 2 TB console with a free game or something? I mean like I said, something better is always around the corner, particularly when it comes to this industry.

While that's true, I'm not going to lie, 500 GB does seem prohibitively small.

It's not a deal breaker, but it is a concern.

When I bought my 250 GB 360, that seemed generous, though I had little doubt that a better model was around the corner.

But it's actually giving you a lot of bang for your buck. And Microsoft gets to move a kinect into one more unsuspecting household.

I suspect a 1 TB Xbone will be introduced for Christmas. If not, certainly early next year. And by late 2015, I imagine it will go for 399. Because the difference between a 500 GB HDD and a 1 TB HDD for a company like Microsoft is something like 10-20 dollars.

Oh its absolutely small. I knew that going in. I understood it wasn't going to last me long and it hasn't. Less than a year in and my HDD is at capacity. A new HDD will be the next thing I buy.

that is true.

but, like I said, for my needs, 1TB would be more than sufficient. 2TB would simply be overkill and I wouldn't really need that big of an internal drive. if I need more storage, I'll get a 2TB external drive, which by then should be cheaper.

so, a 2TB model wouldn't be worth waiting for, for me.

and if a later bundle offered a free game, again I'd be willing to forego that. because the extra storage is more important than a game, which I can always get later on sale.

so, yeah, it comes down to what your priorities are.

of course, this would all be moot if the COD bundle just had a standard black console that was 1TB. I'd get that even though I've never played a COD game.

I hope in a future update they'll let you actually store your media files on both the internal hdd and an external drive.

in addition to letting you backup your save files to a USB stick and the external drive.

I'm going 100% digital. I may need 8tb for that.. At least more than 4. Unless I delete stuff but who wants to donTHAT?

8TB seem pretty expensive. On Amazon they range anywhere from 4-600 dollars. Not sure if I can get them cheaper anywhere else. 4TB's are a bit less expensive on Amazon than say Best Buy or Walmart. I'd probably be content with just two of these guys.

Even if you don't go digital, you still have to install the games on your HDD.

Which is why I find it kinda odd that they knew this, and only give you 500gb. Not only are these games MUCH bigger than last gen, but it's mandatory to install.

yeah.

if we didn't have to install disc based games, then 500GB would probably be plenty.

but when the bigger name titles are starting to push 40-50gb installs, that 500gb ( which is only really around 360gb of free space ) will get used up quickly.

to cut costs. 1tb cost more than 500gb. They were already losing money due to the fact that it was a new console and it included Kinect. They had to scale back in several areas to reduce the amount of money they were losing per console and HDD was one. Its really as simple as that

Yeah, it's easier to navigate and see your friends list now. I'll play around with it later. Hopefully they fixed some party issues I had, because the old one took an incredible amount of time to get 6-8 people in a party.

Playing The Evil Within today has made me think about selling my system for a PS4. I can't take this controller much longer.
