Her review was actually a 'second opinion' piece. The guy who wrote the other opinion doesn't seem to have his listed on RT, and he loved the hell out of MOS.

I'm not someone who bashes critics just because I don't agree with their opinion. If they didn't like MOS and can give VALID reasons for their criticism, written in a professional manner (such as - poor pacing, plot holes, casting/acting issues, etc) then I can totally respect that.

But I really can't take that critic who wrote 'whatever' seriously - the entire piece is a critique of why MOS is not the Donner version of Superman. As a review, it misses the point entirely. Did Batman Begins get lambasted for not being Burton's version? Perhaps by one or two idiots, but by and large most people saw that it was a new and fresh take on the Batman franchise. I hope most people can see that MOS is taking the same approach.

Yeah, it was, and not really by just "one or two idiots." While Batman Begins was mostly well received, many critics - AND moviegoers - drew comparisons to Tim Burton's Batman, and didn't like it as much.

this is why i dont like rt guardians review is a 3/5 which to me a 7/10 yet it is viewed as rotten

It shouldn't matter but if this gets lower than ASM than...ugh.

It's now down to 72%. That's below Iron Man 3. 8 rotten review now.

You guys are WAY too into RT scores.

Well, it's one of our main points of reference until the movie comes out. When the movie comes out, it's my own opinion that matters, and the overall rating at IMDB to gauge what the public thought. RT will become worse than irrelevant.

I agree. But it's probably because it's impossible to talk movies on the net without RT constantly being brought up and so many people using it as some sort of a proof that one is better than the other or good or bad. Especially on fanboy sites.

Still, no reason to panic just yet. When it has about 140 reviews and is at or lower than 72%, well, then you can start to wonder. :oldrazz:

2 reviews imo shouldn't be rotten

guardian gave it a 3/5 which is essentially a 7/10

and dallas news gave it a b-

yet both are viewed as rotten

The truth of the matter is that not all of the reviews are in yet. There still might be a chance for it to go up.

There's nothing wrong with comparisons. MOS will inevitably be compared to both Singer's and Donner's versions, at some point.

It's when a critique is built around the film not doing things in the same way as a 35yr old version that I feel compelled to label the writer an 'idiot'. I mean .... complaining that the film loses the innocence of previous ones and doesn't show him saving cats from trees .................. really?!? That person needs to seriously move on.

who cares about RT, the movie will have epic action and will be definitely better than superman returns...

i'll take that any day of the week

Even if they changed the fresh/rotten scoring system, they'd have to apply it to all movies on the site. It would even out to essentially the same score relative to everything else.

Which was a GREAT movie (but then I've always enjoyed Shane Black's writing & style, and loved what he managed to accomplish with the material :im:), and vastly underappreciated. See, that's what I'm talking about when I say that most here are WAY into the RT scores. I enjoyed Iron Man 3 much more than The Avengers; but then you take a look at RottenTomatoes and...
So, don't get too caught up in all that stuff. Decide for yourselves once it's out.

Most of the 'bad' reviews mainly focuses on 'character development', and 'story telling'.. both of which is not snyder's forte, so I think there's some validity to their criticism... most reviewers are forgiving if you give them a good pop-corn outing, but some looking for a good 'story' may be disappointed...

Again, I am speculating.. but based on reviews and snyder's past movies, I would say don't expect miracles... but also, expect to be blown away with 'action sequences'...

He didn't write the story.

New review added at RT, It is up from 29 to 30 and i think it is a negative.

He didn't write the story.

But as a director, you've still got to have the right storytelling sensibilities to successfuly transfer a story and script to the big screen. A subpar director can always **** up a great script. ;) And that's an area where Snyder has been lacking so far. That, and getting sincere and interesting performances out of his actors. I've found the acting to be mostly stiff in his previous movies.

Snyder didn't write the story or the script. Several reviewers were sure to mention that and give him kudos while (rightfully) criticizing both Nolan and Goyer. If there are truly big problems with those aspects it's down to them, not Snyder.

I agree and the weird thing is that people pretty much know that they won't agree with the negative reviews (hence why they get angry at them), which should make the RT score mean even less. The same really goes for how much money a movie makes at the box office. Sure it affects the chances of there being sequels but in terms of movie quality it means very little as that's something we judge on our own.

Still I can't help but get a little amused at the anger these things stir up. Not because I want any movie to be bad, just for the fact that the phenomenon is funny.
