He has been championing Man of Steel as the movie to beat this summer, but many of his colleagues (and perhaps even he) have seen the film so he probably has heard many different reactions in private. Perhaps even more foreboding, @DiagnoisisKevin on Twitter asked him, "is this what happened with Iron Man 3?" and his response was simply "IM3 is great movie," perhaps implying Man of Steel is not.

This is a lot of conjecture at this point, but either way, I think people should be prepared to face the fact that this may not be a complete critical success, and to brace for at least some bad reviews.

I told you guys devin faraci is the biggest farce in movie reviewer industry

2 reasons for the WB embargo - take them for what they are.

(1) We have another GL situation - It CAN happen, not impossible.

HOWEVER, the biggest fan and subsequet detractor, Drew Mcweeny, at Hitfx was truly enthusiastic and looking forward to watching a new franchise, UNITIL he saw it. He then criticised and did not hide his biter disappointment, refusing to let hs kids see it.

For MOS, Drew is still entusiatic and even brought his kids to meetsome of the cast / costumes. He LIKES (at least) this movie.

Besides, how bad could it possibly be, because we've had STID, IM3$, TDKR and TASM - all with glowing and toxic reviews.

Which leads to (more likely) scenario

(2) After SR, WB is hesitant / scared of critic reactions spoiling anticipation, so want to keep it under control for now.

Regardless of how confident WB is in the final product, MOS is the biggest risk they have. They have a right to be scared...

Agreed. Once they lift the embargo there's nothing to stop Armond White from booting up his computer ;)

Oh man, I really hope Devin hates the film. That almost guarantees that I'll love it.

He has very specific ideas about what the superhero genre should be. He seems to really loathe the idea of self-serious superhero films. This is the guy who rated Spider-Man 3 higher than Batman Begins.

Knowing that me may not have liked it makes me feel better, honestly lol.

Definitely...If Devin hates it, it actually hypes me more for the film.

Honestly I think it's there because they KNOW it's good. The president of WB is already calling it one of their best. If I knew a movie was good I would hold the reviews myself to maximize money. All indications point to a winner.

So wait, negative reviews are going to be attached to this film?!?!?!?! NO WAY! What an inevitable way to state the obvious. There are many people on twitter who are talking positive about Man of Steel as well and can't wait until the embargo is lifted. Negative reviews are going to be there, but equally, most can't wait to sings its praises as well.

There always has to be that one person (Anjow1060). I really hope this place remains spoiler free. Really do.

On a lighter note, how awesome was Jacobed's review? *whistles while shaking head*
Doubt we will get one that will top it. Thank, Sir.

I absolutely hate Devin Faraci.

That doesn't make much sense tho. If the vast majority of buzz is thru the roof, why wouldn't you want to get that word of mouth going amongst normies? THAT would maximize their money.

Sure, viewings and word of mouth after the release will give the film some legs - but none of that does much for the all-holy opening weekend numbers that so much relies on in this business.

Wait, how does he LOVE IM3 and SM3 and think BB and TDKR are average?
I like IM3 but BB and TDKR are definitely better.

The embargo is still being lifted the 10th though, that allows the whole week of release for more hype to build.

And he only reluctantly acknowledged that TDK was a good movie, but spent most of his review chipping away at it and trying to prove why it's overrated and Nolan's take on Batman is still wrong.

OR they could build anticipation and interest by not revealing any reactions....

...like what's happening now.

I don't think the way superman shaves really qualifies as a spoiler.

Yeah, if it's not a plot, character, or action bit, it's not really a spoiler. That's like saying Bond drinks Vodka. It's a minor detail in the grand scheme of things.

Why was he even excited for MOS? :funny:

Seeing as I've never heard of this guy, his opinion matters little to me.
