In a 144 minute movie, 50% drama is enough... if they are able to tell the story/develop the characters well... too much, and you'll have plodding, slow moving... and too boring...

And action needs to be well planned.. not just free for all fights... like in Avengers.. it's just too much like Transformers... everyone one beating up everyone else all over the place... there's no suspence at all... no built up... nothing.. you don't feel anything in the fight scenes because there's nothing to feel...

Avengers was Transformers except the effects were bad and it was super cheesy.

Transformers is pretty and has good action and effects.

Man, so refreshing to see people being honest about The Avengers. I felt so alone in my indifference to that movie last summer.

Now you've done it! I don't think TA is perfect, but it had some strong character dynamics and a warm-hearted quality that's unique.

This is how I look at it...

Take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt, because it's not gonna be your opinion. A good example for me would be Thor. When I seen Thor (by accident, i went with the lady to see a different movie, and ended up with Thor and 3D glasses on my face!) I was literally gushing walking out the theater, I LOOOVED IT!!!! I immediately texted my older brother (36 and a Fed-ex plant manager) that he NEEDED to see this movie!!! We set up a date for the following Saturday to see it, and the first thing he told me when the movie ended was "wow, you were not kidding, that movie was excellent! ". Literally for the next 2 months I kept getting blown up with texts from my brother saying "THHHOOOOOORRRRR"!!! Yea, he's a goofball like me, but that just shows how much he and I loved the movie.

I go on RT after the second time seeing Thor, and see it had a 78%, just 2 more points then SR. I was thinking just ridiculous! I LOVED Thor, and SR to me was such a bore (and im much more of a Sups fan then Thor). Well, just goes to show how opinions very. I come on here and see many not caring about Thor, and they are huge Thor fans, but for me, Thor ranks up there with the Chris Reeve Sups films for me! Call me crazy, I just love the movie that much.

I have a 106-inch screen in our theater room, and watch Thor on it atleast once a month in 3D, thats how much I love it. Point and clear, go see the movie before letting others opinions effect yours.

^ Sure. Because "preconceiving" movies marginalizes them and causes many people's brain to see the movie like they wish it was-hence the glowing reviews when SR came out. Or causes them to see the negative where none exists.

Oddly enough, I think Man of Steel will have more in common with Thor than most other superhero films.

Pssssh that movie was all about the promised pay of, everyone had been anticipating seeing these guys on screen together since the first Iron man. Its like when a girl teases you over and over for years and then boom she gives the goods up, at first it will feel like the best sex ever until after you finish and you realize meh I have had better.

That to me, is real world Superman. :)

It really is. I still have to just stop and think about it when I read that story. I hear 'this is superman' and 'that is superman', and that's fine. But to me, THAT is Superman. It's not all puppies and hugs, there is serious inner conflict there and so rarely do people stop and think about that aspect.

^ Yep. And the fact that he'll never be powerful enough to resolve HUMAN conflicts.

I'm the opposite. The effects are wasted in Transformers by the action having hardly any narrative.

Got to attend a screening of Man of Steel tonight. I won't spoil a thing except to say, it IS everything you hope. So amazing! #rebooooot

Fantastic reactions all around. The majority for POSITIVE is overwhelming. Like somebody above me said. The audiences are speaking. Critics? Now we wait.

Transformers 3 had great visuals and was more fun than Transformers 2. The Avengers was a better film but visually it was standard. Nothing to get crazy about.

TF3 was better than 2 but that doesn't mean much to me since I hate 2 with a passion. As I said TF3 had some nice set pieces but as it went on the momentum died.

Bingo. It's cheesy and cliche', but so many people (GP) would tell you nothing is heavy to Superman. Yeah, well, check his heart there buddy, because that mother f***** is heavy as s*** :(

Anyone here insulting The Avengers should probably get off these forums forever. As far as comic book movies go, it was near perfection. Get a grip on this fanboy Marvel vs DC crap. Also, Transformers movies are for children and the mentally challenged. Awful and insulting

The Hulk was impressive, everything else was OK to disturbingly dodgy.

As much as my LITTLE nitpicks are, I think it's the best superhero experience I've seen. If MOS can recapture that stylized comic element, while having the dramatic elements that made BB, Iron Man, and Spider-Man 2 so good, I would put it at the head of the pack.

Exactly! Put stuff into someone's head and their opinion will reflect the opinions of every review they read, plus their own. This is why I try to stay away from reviews before a movie comes out, especially those that give too much.

BatLobsterRises: Hope your right, cause I love me some Thor! :D

Different tastes man. I find it highly overrated. I prefer the first Iron Man by a mile. Nothing to do with Marvel vs. DC.

Thor was slightly underrated, while Captain America was slightly overrated.
Iron Man 3's fairly assessed ;)

Yeah I enjoyed Captain America the most out of all the stand alone Marvel flicks, though I enjoyed Thor and the first Iron Man. Avengers did a good job bringing them all together, was very entertaining, though I wouldn't rate it as my favourite CBM.
