The Dark Knight Rises Why Batman WON'T Die in The Dark Knight Rises

Or like the DKReturns comic (I know...this is not the comics! :oldrazz:), he could fake his own death, exposed as both Batman an Bruce wayne to the people of Gotham, and live on in secret as the leader of a new League Of Shadows....with new battles and adventures to come...in a future that we won't see....

High-five me...right now...!

:highfive:

If this movie is copying The Dark Knight Returns, then we'd better see a seven-foot she-Nazi with swastikas over her boobs.

Peace and death needn't be different things.

Peace for a character like this Bruce Wayne can be a momentary thing. From his parents death on he is defined by those deaths.

Then in BB he's defined by Ra's Death.

Then in TDK Rachel and Harvey's death.

He doesn't have the ability to let go of these things as events he could have avoided or have changed.

In TDKR he will face an extraordinary problem that he's never faced before. The entire fate of Gotham will be put into the wager. Perhaps in that he reconcile the person he had to be and the person he wanted to be.

That can literally be a simple, revelation that's not dependent on his staying alive.

By peace I meant leading a "normal life"; which obviously can't coexist with death because you kinda have to be alive to live a life.

Unless Nolan pulls a Titanic where the last scene is Bruce embracing Rachel in heaven.

Both are possible. I don't endorse either or more than the other at this current time.

Brigitte would have worked well back in the day.....

The last time I saw Brigitte, she looked like a cross between Mickey Rourke and Aileen Wuornos.

Main reason Bruce won't die in The Dark Knight Rises...

...the whole "Why do we fall?" "To pick ourselves up again."

That's what this has all been about. Batman began...then became known as The Dark Knight...and now, having fallen, will pick himself up again (along with Gotham)

Thus, The Dark Knight Rises...

\S/

I actually said this thing, almost word for word, to a friend today at work. Haha.

I won't lie, and this may upset a few.. or some may not understand my way of thinking..

However, if Nolan kills Batman/Bruce Wayne in this movie I won't be seeing it. I'm going to find this fact out before I make my way into theaters because I will NOT be happy with Batmans death regardless of how good the story is.

I don't expect Nolan to cater to me and what I want.. It will simply be my personal decision.

My perfect ending would be Bruce finding peace with what he has to do. Bruce accepting the fact that he must commit himself to this life and that Batman and the mission must take priority over everything else. No more second guessing. No more regrets... Just accepting that this is his life and that he's ok with it.

I'm hoping that's how things go.

Eh... that's really petty not to go and see the film because it doesn't end how you want it to.

that would be absolutly AWESOME! , add dramatic music and a good Suit up scene (Is necesary for me idk)

It could still happen. Do you think they can do that and still have it be a definite ending wit no real need or even reason for another story in the saga? He'll also be 40+, so with the more realistic grounding in the film, he won't have that much time left behind the mask before his aging becomes a serious hindrance. We'll see. Would you be open to a 'retirement', if it's done well?

But he does rise to fight Bane. And if he dies, he can at least go out a hero, instead of a fugitive from justice which is what he was before he rose back up.

It's a simple choice. I respect what Nolan has done with the character so far... but killing him off is taking things too far.

IMHO.

I'm sure I'll rent it.. but no way would I pay ticket prices to see it.

Eh, I'd be more ok with someone else taking up the mantle and Bruce being the "master" to the "apprentice" if you will.. because that's happened... I suppose that's another reason why I'm not a HUGE fan of Nolans realism approach. Sometimes, more so with comic book movies, I'm ok with things "stretching" it a bit.

I mean, Bruce has been what? 35ish in the comics for 70 years, lol.

I'd rather not see that in these movies. And as for the age and years, I particularly find it a very interesting challenge that's been met by the approach to these films in terms of really looking at Wayne's mortality in ways that other versions and formats don't quite match. Now...some may say that's not what these stories should do...they shouldn't remind us that we're mortal, or that we will age and die and not be forever young and virile like superheroes. We get enough of that in real life, we want escapism in our comics and superheroes, etc. There's a lot of merit in that, but I'm willing to go along with Nolan's version as well because more than anything I like how the films are doing it. I don't generally want to see Batman age or die any more than the next person, but I don't mind entertaining the idea as an elseworld's take in the vision of a good storyteller if it accentuates the preciousness of the time he IS Batman.

This is one of the dumbest and most closed minded posts i've ever read on here. :whatever:

Oh really? Prove that I'm wrong about WB's history of potraying DC heroes on the big screen. They've screwed Superman so bad nobody is excited about his reboot. Green Lantern was laughed off the screen.

The idiots at WB tried to destroy Nolan's franchise by pushing Lenardo DiCaprio to play the riddler in the final film. Trying to duplicate what was already seen with the Joker.

Killing off Batman is STUPID and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the people at WB were behind something so stupid.
